Trek In The Park Returns To Portland With The Star Trek Classic "Mirror, Mirror"
For the last 3 years, Portland area residents have been enjoying live action TOS episodes being performed in an outdoor setting. Trek in the Park returns this year to offer up the classic episode "Mirror, Mirror". As a Trek fan you've got to be familiar with this episode, it's one of our favorites. Kirk, McCoy, Scotty, and Uhura experience problems with the transporter and are sent to an alternate universe. Ya know, the universe were Spock rocks a goatee and awesomeness ensues. If you haven't seen it, turn in your Trek fan card, stop what you're doing and jump on Netflix. We'll give the card back when you finish the episode. Trek in the Park is presented by Atomic Arts and is set to run in Woodland Park from July 9th through the 31st on Saturdays and Sundays at 5pm.
Star Trek's Walter Koenig Talks "Things To Come"
Since Vegas Khhaaan! of last year, we've been waiting to get our hands on Walter Koenig's new projects; the graphic novels / comics "Things to Come" & "Raver". We talked to Walter back in November of last year about both works, on our "Life After Trek" podcast, and he reveled that both will be released this year. They'll be published by the independent comic house Bluewater Productions. Walter was recently interviewed by Ain't it Cool News where he gave more detail about each, as well as a fantastic bit of wisdom for the aspiring creatives out there.
"I think first of all perseverance, faith in yourself. You have to really have a passion and a belief that will stand the test of the myriad rejections that are bound to come unless you are extraordinarily gifted and recognized for it immediately, it’s a hard course to travel, but ultimately it’s a short life and you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do you know and I don’t believe, now more than ever, in a very pivotal and critical time in my life with events having taken a very tragic turn, I believe that you must live it fully and do what is important to you and if possible not to do what’s simply safe and comfortable you know." Walter continues; "If you are creative in any field in any capacity or if you have just a driving ambition in some area, I think you must acknowledge that and respect it."

William Shatner's "The Captains" Documentary Trailer, Plus A New Season Of "Aftermath"
It seems lately that there has been more Shatner than you can wave a stick at. Well, get you're sticks out kids, The Shat is set to invade your televisions even more this month with the release of his long awaited documentary The Captains and a brand new season of his hit show Aftermath. We've been hearing about "Captains" for some time now, first learning about it in Vegas almost a year ago, and finally getting to see the extremely short trailer that was just released.
"I'm not Spock... That guy called me Spock" The Shat utters while traipsing down that all too familiar corridor in the Las Vegas Hilton. If there is any justice in the universe, you'll get to see my gigantic head in footage shot around Vegas Khhaaan! 2010. In fact, I had an extremely close call with Kirk and his camera crew while standing outside the Star Trek: The Experience panel last year. Shatner got within a foot or so of my tall, lanky frame and said very quietly to himself "I'm going this way", immediately turning in the opposite direction. Is it possible that I'm the only thing that frightens Kirk? But, I digress. The Captains will premiere on Epix July 21st. Check out the trailer below.
