Calling all Trek fans in The Great White North. William "The Shat" Shatner will be performing his one man show How time Flies: An Evening With William Shatner at the Centennial Concert Hall in Winnipeg, MB tomorrow night (October 25th). The is just The Shat & only The Shat and according to the show synopsis, Bill will be taking attendees on a wild ride through his life and career and singing songs as only he can. That's right, the Captain will be singing. Oh how I wish we could be in Canada tomorrow night. Tickets are still available, by the way, but if you miss this show, Bill will be stopping in Toronto November 3rd and Montreal November 4th. Doors open for tomorrow night's performance 6:30pm, with the show at 7:30pm. VIP tickets are available and include an after Party, VIP laminate, souvenir, and a photo op/meet & greet with William Shatner after the show. Check out more info & the official show video below.

I have to admit that I don't watch reality TV... not enough Vulcan's or phaser blasts for my tastes, but that could soon change (although probably not). George Takei is joining Donald Trump for Celebrity Apprentice 5. If anyone can take on Trump, it's George... OH MYYYY! Also joining the cast this season; Adam Carolla, Austin Comic-con favorite and Liberator star Lou Ferrigno, Dee Snider, & Penn Jillette to name a few. So let's face it. Trek fans will watch simply because George is awesome. Heck, we would too if we could get past the pseudo-drama, horribly fake confrontations, & terrible editing to make any situation contentious. Although, The Shat on Cupcake Boss might change our minds on Reality TV as a whole. Yes folks, there's a show called Cupcake Boss. So, how do we describe William Shatner's singing career? Well, it's more of a speaking career, right? Starting with his famous "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" released in 1968 on the album "The Transformed Man". The Shat interspersed Shakespeare throughout the album with other hits like "Mr. Tambourine Man" & "It was a very good year". Next, we move on to his live double album released in 1977 that features Sir Billiam (still trying) reciting scenes from "Cyrano de Bergerac" & "War of the Worlds". Unfortunately though, there were no top forty hits to be found on that vinyl. Then, out of the blue 1978 rolls along and we see The Shat performing his famous (or infamous) rendition of Elton John's "Rocket man" on the The Science Fiction Film Awards, which he hosted, by the way. Over the years Bill has "sang" many-a-song with his tongue firmly placed in his cheek and the most recent release is no different.

William Shatner's new book "Shatner Rules: Your Guide to Understanding the Shatnerverse and the World at Large" is available now for your reading pleasure and he recently sat down with USA Today to discuss the new book and his life in general.  If you haven't heard of "Shatner Rules", it's listed as This collection of rules, illustrated with stories from Bill's illustrious life and career.  It will show you how Bill became William Shatner, larger than life and bigger than any role he ever played. In an attempt to start flaming troll wars on the interwebs and making geeks' heads explode, William Shatner (aka Sir Billiam. Yes were still shooting for that internet meme) posted another one of his tongue-in-cheek videos to youtube. This time? The age old battle: Star Trek vs. Star Wars. Not only did The Shat say that Star Wars is derivative of Star Trek, he went on to point out that Star Trek had better looking women and stories. He did mention though, that Captain Kirk and Princess Leia would be "the perfect union" between Trek & Wars.

"Star Trek had relationships and conflict among the relationships... and stories that involved humanity and philosophical questions... Star Wars was special effects." The Shat continues "Not only was the television show more humane and dealt with more human principles than Star Wars, but now Star Trek has even more special effects than Star Wars."

We would like to wish a very happy birthday to our favorite navigator, Walter Koenig! As many of you know, Walter recently made the news with his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and honestly it couldn't have happened sooner. The well deserved honor has got to make this day even more special. We had the chance to talk to Walter last year at Austin Comic-con and he mentioned a few projects that should be releasing soon. Walter Marvin Koenig was born September 14, 1936 in Chicago, IL. Before landing the role of Ensign Pavel Chekov, Walter worked on many series in the early days of TV including: Combat!, The Untouchables, Ben Casey, plus many others. The most notable being the short lived series The Lieutenant created by none other than Gene Roddenberry. Walter credits his work on The Lieutenant for playing a small role in landing Star Trek, but he also credits the series Mr. Novak.

Sir Billiam has been extolling it's virtues at every convention we've been to from Vegas to Dallas and everywhere in-between. Dallas Comic Con is at it again. Their newest convention is coming up on October 8th & 9th. This particular "Fan Days" convention, is Star Wars themed, but we thought Trek fans would want to know because George Takei will be appearing over the weekend. If you haven't been to any of the conventions Dallas Comic Con puts on, you're really missing out. They run a great show. They are big enough and well known enough to get a ton of the great guests, but small enough to allow fans greater access to those guests. If you are anywhere near Dallas, TX on October 8th & 9th we totally think you should stop by and check it out. It's shaping up to be a great show.

So I have something to admit first and foremost... I would have written this article earlier tonight, but I lost track of time watching the Star Trek: The Original series episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before". Which, really brings me to the point of this article. Exactly 45 years ago today Star Trek: The Original Series, or just Star Trek, as it was known, took to the airwaves. Gene Roddenberry's dream and vision took shape and graced America's living rooms and it hasn't been the same since. I don't mean that in a negative way of course. Star Trek has had a much farther reach and impact than anyone at the time could have imagined.
