William Shatner Attending New Orleans Comic Con This Month

William Shatner Attending New Orleans Comic Con In January 2012

We know The Shat is all the rage and that all you want out of life is to feast your peepers on him, live and in person. Ok, so maybe that was our goal, not yours, but I’m gonna go out on a limb here and assume since you’re reading a website about Star Trek that you kinda, maybe, sort of dig William Shatner. Well, that being the case, you’ll be thrilled to know that he is scheduled to be a featured guest at Wizard World’s New Orleans Comic Con January 28-29, 2012.

He’s only going to be there that Saturday, so don’t miss your chance to see him. He’s the cat’s pajamas!

William Shatner On "Piers Morgan Tonight"... Tonight

Ya know, maybe we should change the name of our blog to Shatspace Communique, because it seems like he's all we talk about. Heck, we're not complaing, The Shat is an omnipresent force that seems unstoppable. If you're looking for your quick Shatner fix this evening, check him out on Piers Morgan Tonight... tonight. That's on CNN at 9pm / 8pm central. We think Sir Billiam (still trying) is there to talk about his new album Seeking Major Tom, but you never really know where the conversation will lead. Actually, you do... to awesomeness.

Check out the episode description below.

William Shatner Loves Fried Turkey... And Fire Safety

William Shatner Loves Fried Turkey... And Fire Safety

In a bid to save your arm hair William Shatner & State Farm Insurance have joined forces to spread the word about the dangers of deep frying a turkey this holiday season. Ya' know, everyone including The Shat loves the moist deliciousness that comes from taking a 20lb frozen turkey and dumping it in boiling oil, but there's a hidden danger that comes with the golden brown poultry goodness. “I love to fry turkey and have been doing it for years but I am not immune to frying accidents,” says Shatner. “In fact, my family now gathers together to watch my mishaps. Several years ago I was even burned on my arms after accidently dropping the turkey in the hot oil. People need to remember that hot oil and turkey can be a dangerous combination.”

William Shatner's Documentary "The Captains" Available For Streaming On Netflix; With Hidden Awesomeness

William Shatner's Documentary "The Captains" Available For Streaming On Netflix

So I was cruising Netflix tonight, searching for Chuck Norris's The Delta Force (no lie!) and I stumbled upon William Shatner's documentary The Captains on Watch Instantly. You know the one; it features interviews with all six Star Trek captains... Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, Scott Bakula, and Chris Pine. Oh, and The Shat, of course. I've been meaning to sit down and watch The Captains since release back in July, but I just simply haven't made the time. Now that I have, here are a few takeaways; First, Patrick Stewart seems to be one of the most thoughtful and eloquent actors in the history of the stage, Kate Mulgrew is tough-as-nails and can hold her own with anyone, Avery Brooks is down right crazy & amazing all at the same time, Scott Bakula is extremely down-to-earth, and Chris Pine IS William Shatner 30 years younger. And on top of that, Patrick Stewart's chair is gigantically disproportionate to Shatner's.

William Shatner's latest "Singing" Adventure "Seeking Major Tom" Available Now

So, how do we describe William Shatner's singing career? Well, it's more of a speaking career, right? Starting with his famous "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" released in 1968 on the album "The Transformed Man". The Shat interspersed Shakespeare throughout the album with other hits like "Mr. Tambourine Man" & "It was a very good year". Next, we move on to his live double album released in 1977 that features Sir Billiam (still trying) reciting scenes from "Cyrano de Bergerac" & "War of the Worlds". Unfortunately though, there were no top forty hits to be found on that vinyl. Then, out of the blue 1978 rolls along and we see The Shat performing his famous (or infamous) rendition of Elton John's "Rocket man" on the The Science Fiction Film Awards, which he hosted, by the way. Over the years Bill has "sang" many-a-song with his tongue firmly placed in his cheek and the most recent release is no different.

William Shatner Gives Us New "Rules" For Becoming More Shatneresque

William Shatner's new book "Shatner Rules: Your Guide to Understanding the Shatnerverse and the World at Large" is available now for your reading pleasure and he recently sat down with USA Today to discuss the new book and his life in general.  If you haven't heard of "Shatner Rules", it's listed as This collection of rules, illustrated with stories from Bill's illustrious life and career.  It will show you how Bill became William Shatner, larger than life and bigger than any role he ever played. "Shatner Rules" is your guide to becoming William Shatner. Or more accurately, beautifully Shatneresque.

"Star Wars Is Derivative Of Star Trek" & Trek Is "Better"; Plus Other Awesome Things Said By William Shatner

In an attempt to start flaming troll wars on the interwebs and making geeks' heads explode, William Shatner (aka Sir Billiam. Yes were still shooting for that internet meme) posted another one of his tongue-in-cheek videos to youtube. This time? The age old battle: Star Trek vs. Star Wars. Not only did The Shat say that Star Wars is derivative of Star Trek, he went on to point out that Star Trek had better looking women and stories. He did mention though, that Captain Kirk and Princess Leia would be "the perfect union" between Trek & Wars.

"Star Trek had relationships and conflict among the relationships... and stories that involved humanity and philosophical questions... Star Wars was special effects." The Shat continues "Not only was the television show more humane and dealt with more human principles than Star Wars, but now Star Trek has even more special effects than Star Wars."
