Star Trek TNG's Marina Sirtis & Versatile Trek Actor Tony Todd Headed To Houston In May

A Houston Texas area convention nearly slipped past our radar, with Marina Sirtis & Tony Todd listed as guests! Called Comicpalooza, the Houston based convention started in 2008 as a simple signing event set to coincide with the release of "The Dark Knight". In 2009, it grew to a two-day comic book festival set in a local mall, focusing on promoting creators, connecting with the media, and fostering new growth in the fanbase. In 2010, Comicpalooza moved to the George R. Brown Convention Center as a multi-format convention celebrating not just comics, but also sci-fi and fantasy, horror, steam punk, New Media, movies, film, and gaming of all types.

How Would You Like To Be Remembered? "For being funny, but I don't think that will happen." Says Patrick Stewart

How Would You Like To Be Remembered? "For being funny, but I don't think that will happen." Says Patrick Stewart

Honestly, we love just about anything having to do with Sir Patrick Stewart. Most recently we reported on his return to the Royal Shakespeare Company in a production of "The Merchant of Venice". Sir Patrick is obviously a marvelous actor, but he also has an interesting since of humor. According to a recent Q&A session with UK's The Guardian, he would love to be remembered "For being funny" but adds " I don't think that will happen." His Star Trek & Stage career may overshadow his sense of humor, but several of Sir Patrick's answers were rather humorous and all of them were very interesting. Check out an excerpt below.

Star Trek's Patrick Stewart Is Returning To The Royal Shakespeare Company This Spring

Star Trek's Patrick Stewart Is Returning To The Royal Shakespeare Company This Spring

Sir Patrick Stewart is heading back to the Royal Shakespeare Company to play Shylock in the bard's "The Merchant of Venice" this spring. With over 60 RSC productions under his belt, Sir Patrick will be reuniting with director Rupert Goold for the production as a part the RSC's 50th birthday season. The play will run from May 19th to September 26th 2011 and preview on May 13th.

According to Whatsonstage.com; Goold and Stewart previously worked together on the RSC’s 2006 production of The Tempest, which transferred to the West End, and most famously, on the multi award-winning 2007 Chichester production of Macbeth, which transferred to the West End and Broadway and was subsequently filmed. Following Macbeth, Stewart returned to the RSC in 2009 to play Claudius to David Tennant’s Hamlet, which also transferred to the West End and which won Stewart both Olivier and Whatsonstage.com Awards for Best Supporting Actor.

Star Trek TNG's Gates McFadden "Wants To Know..."

Four measly years before she took on the role as Chief Medical Officer Beverly Crusher, Gates McFadden had the "leading role" in a National Enquirer commercial. Any child of the 80s will remember these ads, with their iconic "I wanna know" catch phrase.

Apparently Gates wants to know about "Johnny Cash's recent brush with death" and how she can "cheer up her wardrobe for under $10 this Christmas", in 1983. Check out the retro commercial flashback below.

Hat tip to The Korkster for recommending the video.

Originally released in book form in 1996, "Star Trek: The Klingon Way, A Warrior's Guide" is now available for your Vulcan Klingon ears. Narrated by both Michael Dorn (Worf: TNG) & Roxann Dawson (B'Elanna Torres: VOY), the audio version is abridged (unfortunately) and will set you back $6.95 (or free with a new account) from Audible.com. Many of you know "The Klingon Way", penned by Marc Okrand as a collection of adages, in Klingon and English, for contemplation by the "meeker races".
