LeVar Burton is heading back into the realm of scifi with his new TV movie for NBC called "The Jensen Project". We reported on the "Jensen" announcement back in February and that the movie is actually what you called a "backdoor pilot" for NBC, which could lead into a new series for the TNG alum.

Okay, so, I'm not sure how we missed this, but there's a huge Comic Con in Anaheim, CA. set for April 16th - 18th with a virtual galaxy class starship full of Star Trek stars.  The convention is to be held at the Anaheim Convention Center and has over 150 guests planned for the event.   Let's just put it this way, William Shatner, Nichelle Nichols, Brent Spiner, LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Cirroc Lofton, Garrett Wang, and TONY TODD are going to be on hand.  Why is Tony Todd in all caps?  'Cause it's flippin' Kurn man!  If we still lived in So Cal, we'd be all up in that con for sure.

Rolling around the internet today we saw a tweet from @levarburton announcing his new TV movie deal with NBC.  The movie, called "The Jensen Project", is actually what they call a backdoor pilot that could lead into a new series for NBC.

"Jensen" also stars Kellie Martin, Brady Smith, & Patricia Richardson, and revolves around a group holed up in the mountains to solve the world's problems. When one goes rogue, the others are forced to try and stop him.  The two hour movie is sponsored by Walmart and Proctor & Gamble in a bid to bring back family friendly TV to the airwaves.

Every year about this time Mac users flock to their version of Mecca known as Macworld. Up until a few years ago, this was a huge event for Apple to release new products and Steve Jobs to speak at the "Feature Presentation", otherwise known as a keynote. Since Apple's Macworld departure,New York Times  personal technology columnist David Pogue was responsible for said feature.

A brand new documentary is set to hit the ariwaves at PBS this month.  Called "For Love of Liberty: The Story of America’s Black Patriots", the two-part four hour doc uses letters, diaries, speeches, journalistic accounts, historical text and military records to document and acknowledge the sacrifices and accomplishments of African-American service men and women since the earliest days of the republic. And, it includes narration by Avery Brooks plus dramatic readings by LeVar Burton.

Why not start of the new year with a terrible interview featuring Marina Sirtis, Jonathan Frakes, LeVar Burton, and Brent Spiner from 1996. Thanks to the fine folks at Cinematical, they dug up this uncomfortable video clip hosted by two rather annoying interviews that hopefully aren't in the business any longer. Check out the annoyed looks on Brent's face around 4:56. By the way, this was a part of the "First Contact" promotional tour and was originally aired on MTV UK.

LeVar Burton, our dear Geordi LaForge, is set to host a special presentation at the Housatonic Community College Alumni Hall of Fame Gala November 21st. 

It's fitting that Chief of Engineering would speak at a forum dedicated to the advancement of modern technology.  LeVar Burton opened the third day of the Intel Developer forum in San Francisco by reminding attendees to keep dreaming. 

LeVar Burton has an impressive list of performances under his belt.  Not only is he know to Trek fans around the world as our beloved Lt. Commander Geordi Laforge, LeVar is also know world wide as Kunta Kinte from 'Roots' and multiple other roles in television and film.  Not to mention our childhood favorite Reading Rainbow.
