Thanks to Miles from the Scifi Diner Podcast for giving us the heads-up on this. Tomorrow night (March 14th) Bio Channel's "Shatner's Raw Nerve" is serving up a Star Trek double header, starting off with TNG's LeVar Burton at 10pm / 9pm Central. In the preview clip for the episode, LeVar describes his time on the set of "Roots" and discusses his most difficult scene while filming the mini-series.

"For me 'Roots' is all about... family. It's about who we are, why we are the way we are" Says LeVar. "When I read those first sides for Kunta, I know exactly who this kid was. I had no problem putting myself in all of those situations." LeVar then goes into detail about his most difficult moment on the series.

Then if that wasn't enough, Star Trek's Walter Koenig joins The Shat to discuss, among other things, his time after Star Trek's cancelation.

Joining the likes of Trek Stars Wil Wheaton & George Takei, LeVar Burton will be guest starring on the uber-geeky & uber-funny "The Big Bang Theory" tomorrow night. In an episode entitled "The Toast Derivation" Sheldon struggles to cope when he realizes it's actually Leonard who is the center of their social group. He then tries to impress the rest of the gang by throwing a party of his own. LeVar will be playing himself and is apparently one of guests Sheldon invites to his party. "LeVar Burton's coming here?" asks Leonard. "Possibly. I tweeted him" replies Sheldon. You can catch LeVar tomorrow night (Thursday, Feb 24th) at 8pm / 7pm central on CBS.

As we reported earlier this month, Star Trek: TNG's LeVar Burton was in Kansas City area over the weekend to visit the Johnson County Community College and be a VIP guest at the Störling Dance Theater's presentation of “Underground”. While in KC, LeVar made a stop by the Kansas City Public library to read to children from the Derrick Thomas Academy. He was joined by local author Shane Evans and some representatives from the Storling Dance Theater. By the looks on everyone's faces, both the kids and LeVar had a great time.

The Störling Dance Theater in Overland Park, Kansas will be presenting "Underground": a visual tapestry based on true stories of the Underground Railroad February 18th with TNG's LeVar Burton. LeVar won't be performing, but rather the special guest at the “Underground” performances as well as a VIP at a reception and dinner. “Underground” will begin at 8:00pm on Friday, February 18, 2011 at The Carlsen Center - Yardley Hall on the campus of Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas.

There are a couple ticket options for you to have a VIP reception and/or dinner with LeVar starting at $100. The tickets also include orchestra seating for the performance. Check out the options below.

We just found out, via LeVar's twitter feed, that today he's on the set of the NBC hit "Community" filming an upcoming episode. Okay, we love "Community" and LeVar so, it's a perfect fit. First off, if you're reading this right after it hits the web and you live in the Mountain or Pacific time zones, you still have time to catch it. Tonight at 9pm, wonder boy and nerd impresario Wil Wheaton will be returning to TNT's hit show "Leverage". So, run, set your DVR and then come back and read the rest of the article. We set? Good. Wil's not the only TNG alumni to be returning to the small screen. Number One, or Jonathan Frakes as some folks call him, will be guest starring on "NCIS: Los Angeles" this Tuesday (December 14th) at 9/8central. As many of you know, Jonathan Frakes has been behind the camera for several years with only the sporadic appearance in the limelight. Keep an eye out for him as Navy Commander Dr. Stanfill. Unfortunately there's no news on how large the role will be or if Frakes will see much screen time, but if you miss the airing, you can always catch it streaming on CBS.com.

IndieCade, the only independent gaming event in the US open to the public, opens Friday, October 8th in Culver City, California and runs through Sunday, October 10th. The three-day festival represents the culmination and celebration of its annual competition spotlighting innovation in independent game design. IndieCade 2010 will present 32 independent games selected from nearly four hundred entries, an extensive conference schedule featuring artist's talks, salon discussions and workshops, and the opportunity to play a wide spectrum of games. A gala Red Carpet Awards Ceremony on Friday night will be hosted by artist and storyteller LeVar Burton.

Our favorite Cheif Engineer is making his way to the Intel Developer's Forum in San Francisco again this year. Last Year, LeVar Burton opened the third day of the IDF by reminding attendees to keep dreaming.  Described as the "search for the next big thing", this year, he's working closely with Intel in a much wider role. In a marketing campaign to shed light on new TV technology, including sets with built in apps, intelligent search, & wireless technology, Levar stars in a short Youtube video and Intel invites you to follow him on twitter as he explorers the Smart TV Pavilion at IDF.

Over the years, we've all heard stories about certain actors who were up for roles on "Star Trek: The Next Generation", but for one reason or other didn't want or get the part.  Now, thanks to Sliceofscifi.com (via Lettersofnote.com), we have an April 1987 dated Paramount studio memo that sheds light on the actually prospects for the TNG crew.  

Among the many names listed, Yaphet Kotto was up for the role of Captain Picard, Ben Murphy (Alias Smith & Jones) was a candidate for Riker (spelled Ryker in the memo), Denise Crosby was considered to play Troi, & kid's game show host J.D. Roth was the only actor listed for Wesley.  Here's something that we learned at Vegas Khhaaan (that the memo confirms, Eric Menyuk (aka The Traveler from TNG) was a possibility for our lovable android, Data.
