Star Trek's Jeffrey Combs Brings Edgar Allan Poe & "Nevermore" To North San Diego County

Star Trek's Jeffrey Combs Brings Edgar Allan Poe & "Nevermore" To North San Diego County

We're extremely thrilled to announce that Jeffrey Combs will be bringing his one man show "Nevermore: An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe" to the North Coast Rep Theater in Solana Beach, California. "Nevermore" is the critically acclaimed play written by Dennis Paoli and directed by Stuart Gordon. We've had the pleasure of seeing "Nevermore" in Austin and can simply say that it's a breathtaking experience. The play is set in 1848 and is loosely based on real events that follows Poe on a cross-country speaking tour fraught with strange occurrences that signal Poe's descent into madness.

Life After Trek Podcast Episode 5 Featuring Walter Koenig

We’re pleased to announce the fifth episode of our podcast called, “Life After Trek” featuring Walter Koenig. Walter is our very first interview with an Original Series actor and we're super pleased to have him on the show. As you may know, we live blogged from the floor of Austin Comic-con and that's where we recorded the interview with Walter. We would like to give a big thanks to WizardWorld for having a fantastic convention and giving us access to get such a fantastic interview. If there's a WizardWorld Comic-con anywhere near you, be sure to stop by. You won't be disappointed.

Knit Your Own Star Trek Delta Shield Pot Holders. Will Riker Approves.

Here’s a gem of a craft project that we were just clued into by a friend, Star Trek pot holders. Ok, so maybe you’re saying, “Why do I care about knitting?!” Well, if you’re thinking that…look at the pretty Delta Shield and then click one of our Life After Trek podcasts and amuse yourself with something more your style. However, I happen to know that many of our fans DO like to knit and crochet and this article is specifically for them. In fact I think our crafting friends have been sorely overlooked and we’d like to extend an invitation to them. If anybody makes these we’d love to post them as updates to this article. Just contact us and let us know. Now without further ado…*drum roll*…I give to you, the 24th century in yarn!

Star Trek: Enterprise's John Billingsley Takes On Poe In New Audio Drama

Star Trek: Enterprise's John Billingsley Takes On Poe In New Audio Drama

We are big fans of Edgar Allan Poe and we especially love it when Star Trek cast members take on projects that involve the master of the Macabre. Most recently we reported on Jeffrey Combs playing Poe in a one man show called "Nevermore: An Evening With Edgar Allan Poe". It appears though that Jeffrey is not the only Trek star to dabble in the macabre. Our lovable Dr. Phlox from Enterprise has recorded an audio drama based around the Poe short story "The Fall of the House of Usher". Joining John Billingsley in the audio drama cast are; Kevin Sorbo (Hercules, Andromeda), Jim O'Rear (The Dead Matter, Day Of The Dead), and Bonnie Friedericy (Chuck).

Austin Comic-con Post Convention Wrap-Up

Austin Comic-con Post Convention Wrap Up

Wizard World’s first Austin Comic Con is in our past, but not forgotten. We were so excited to have a con in our own backyard finally. Going home each night (instead of a hotel room) after live blogging a convention is a treat. There was so much to see and so many interesting Q&A’s to listen to. Tons of artists, as you would expect, but quite a few celebrities were in attendance too. Here at Subspace Communique (no surprise) we were most excited about seeing Walter Koenig. He was so gracious that he took some time to do an interview with us. We’ll be posting that in our Life After Trek series ASAP! For now, here’s some video of his Q&A panel.

New Theory Opens Possibilities, from Klingon Cloaks to Data’s Brain

You may remember us reporting on advancements in cloaking technology in earlier articles . It seems that they’ve come up with new applications for this budding tech. A new mathematical theory takes current cloaking technology in several directions at once. One of the new applications can potentially cloak events in both time and space.
