Our favorite communications officer Lt. Uhura (Nichelle Nichols) is set to receive the Gordon Parks Choice of Weapons Award Oct. 9 at the sixth annual Gordon Parks Celebration of Culture and Diversity at Fort Scott Community College.
The Gordon Parks Celebration, a component of the Gordon Parks Museum/Center, was created in 2004 to honor Parks, a Fort Scott native and noted photographer, writer, musician and filmmaker.

We reported last month about a fun little app called the Star Radio Communicator that put a TOS-like communicator on your iPhone. Well, it seems the folks at CBS contacted their friends at Apple and had the app pulled from the iTunes App Store.
Shatner's Super Happy Fun Time
William Shatner has been all over the web today. Ever since his appearance on The Tonight Show w/ Conan O'Brien, where he performed poetry taken from excerpts of Sarah Palin's farewell speech, The Shat has been all the buzz across the interwebs.
On top of his appearance on Conan, The Shat also participated in a campaign organized by Greenpeace. FT.com/TechBlog gives us more details.
