Chris Pine admits that his role in J.J. Abrams's "Star Trek" has opened up many new opportunities for the young actor.  "I've been really blessed from 'Star Trek' to get more opportunities than I had previously in my career." says Pine, 29 & Captain Kirk redeux in Star Trek XI.  In an interview with the Orange County Register, Pine talks about his reasoning for picking certain roles and his upcoming part in "The Lieutenant of Inishmore" set to open July 11th at the Music Center downtown Los Angeles.

Wil Wheaton Hosting "Eureka" Episode At Comic-Con

San Diego Comic-Con is quickly approaching with enough panels & celebrity meet'n greets to choke an entire silo full of hungry tribbles.  Well, it looks like one particular TNG alum will be the host of a showing of his own "Eureka" episode.  Internet superstar & boy genius Wesley, uh, I mean Wil Wheaton is set to host the event July 23rd, the same night the episode airs on SyFy.  Yeah, we hate the name change too.  We caught wind of the event from the big man himself via twitter.  Check out the details below from the official "Eureka" Blog.

Israeli Scientists Work On Miniature Tractor Beam

Israeli Scientists Work On Miniature Tractor Beam

What starship isn't complete without it's tractor beam?  Well, maybe the Enterprise-B, but that's a different story.  Israeli scientists are working on what they call "Optical Tweezers" or Holographic Optical Tweezers (HOTs for short).  We call it a mini-tractor beam, that's right, something Geordi would have whipped up using his visor and some of Data's inner-workings.  Plus, it has the word holographic in the name.  That's like having a cellular peptide cake with mint frosting...and eating it too.  Just watch out for interphasic organisms because they consume cellular pept.... okay, maybe I took that a little too far.

Crewman Becky's Thoughts On Automated Doors

Crewman Becky's Thoughts On Automatic Doors

Hi Corporeal Beings! Crewman Becky here. Have you ever noticed the seemingly psychic operation of the crew quarters’ doorways? How they seem to know that they should open when someone is heading in their direction to enter or exit the room, but to stay closed when someone is merely passing by. I’m not saying that it’s actually operated by several pairs of unseen hands always on the opposite side of the wall than our viewing angle or anything… but their discernment is (generally) uncanny. How do they know? Really…HOW DO THEY KNOW?!  Well, I’m here to tell you that they don’t always.

Abrams's "Star Trek" as well as other Trek films seem to be a popular showing.  Fort Worth, Texas is no exception.  Originally scheduled for July 1st, but unfortunately rained out, the new Showing of Star Trek XI is scheduled for July 8th.  If we lived closer, we would definitely attend. It's really exciting to see this new enthusiasm for Star Trek.

"Free Enterprise 2" Actually In The Works

"Free Enterprise 2", the long awaited indie film sequel to it's aptly named prequel is actually getting made.  In the process for 10 years or so now, director Robert Meyer Burnett has been given the go-ahead and it appears William "The Shat" Shatner has confirmed it at Trek Expo 2010.

"Free Enterprise…remember the film? Well we are doing a sequel, Free Enterprise 2. So they have got me involved in some fun stuff. And I will be shooting that in the next month or so." Shatner Said to an extremely excited crowd.

If you haven't seen the original "Free Enterprise", check out the synopsis below.
