We've known Jerad on the interwebs for well over a year now and have often called him our "internet friend" or "friend of the site". After spending a great deal of time with him at Vegas Khhaan! we can now call him a good personal friend. We partied, we laughed, we hung out in front of an AM/PM and drank warm beverages from paper bags (special Hey, Star Trek! designed paper bags). We truly lived the Trek culture High Life!

During our coverage of Vegas Khhaaan!, Walter Koenig hinted at his upcoming projects including, what we misunderstood to be a TV script, a Vampire story that will soon be released in comic book form called "Things to come", the new story focuses on a post-apocalyptic world where Vampires are the dominant species. The four part mini-series will be released in the spring of next year and will be published by Bluewater Productions.

Eugene Wesley Roddenberry was born August 19th 1921 in El Paso, Texas. Today would have been Gene's 89th birthday and to celebrate the life of this extraordinary man, we bring you a special Youtube Video Round-up: The Gene Roddenberry Edition. Gene wore many different hats over the years, writer, director, producer, husband, father, friend, and as most would agree; visionary. Gene's vision for the future was that of hope in mankind and the hope for a better tomorrow. It has played out on televisions screens all over the world starting on September 8th, 1966 through to today. The Shat is everywhere, man! He seems to be more popular in his 80th decade than ever before. From starting in two new television series this year alone to appearing at almost every convention this side of Ceti Alpha V (This IS CETI ALPHA V!), The Shat is a hot commodity. In preparation for his upcoming appearance at the Chicago Comic-con, Bill sat down for a phone interview with the Chicago Sun-Times to discuss his new show as well as his convention appearance.

Another Khhaaan! that’s sure to please! The Hollywood Xpo/Trek Xpo, October 15-17 in, (where else?), …Hollywood. If we weren’t still totally wiped out from Vegas Khhaaan! we might be attending. Sadly since we aren’t going to be there personally we decree that all of you must go and tell us all about it. This Xpo has not only Star Trek stars, but Scifi, Film/TV, and Comic celebrities as well.

This year’s lineup is fantastic… Stars o’ plenty!

We've said it once, and we'll say it a thousand times, Bruce Greenwood as Captain Christopher Pike was simply amazing in Star Trek XI. We would love to see him reprise the role as our beleaguered Captain, ahem, Admiral Pike. According to an interview with Collider.com, Bruce would also like to see Pike return in the upcoming sequel to "Star Trek". Not only in the sequel, but Bruce jokingly explains that "there should be a whole offshoot of Pike's adventures". We're with you there Bruce. Put us down for a Hamilton, we'd definitely be on board for that.

With the recent release of Star Trek Online: Season 2, Cryptic Studios continues to add new items to it's C-Store. If you're not familiar with the C-store, it's an online store that allows players to buy everything from new costumes to ships to pet tribbles for their STO avatars, or toons, or alts, or... whatever those crazy kids are calling them these days.

Two of our favorite Trek / scifi related podcasts have just launched new episodes that are totally worth a listen.  If you're not already subscribed, you should be.... was that too forceful?  Anyway, Geek Fights, hosted by our good friend Damon Shaw & a cast of thousands (well, maybe not thousands), plus our other good buddies Scott & Miles from the SciFi Diner Podcast.

However, I’m now able to give a report on my experience at the Shore Leave 32 convention. If any of you have the DVD of “Trekkies 2” (2004), you can see a short presentation where Shore Leave takes place. And it’s still at the same hotel today. .
