I Shall Call Him Reginod. Star Trek Online Season One: Common Ground Update

I Shall Call Him Reginod. Star Trek Online Season One: Common Ground Update

A brand new update is headed our way for Star Trek Online.  Included in Season One: Common Ground are new Klingon ships, Federation PVP, off duty uniforms, new fleet actions, and you can now buy a Pakled from the C-Store.  Can you make our ship go?  We look for things.

There are several other features that are included in this new update, but we thought it interesting the Cryptic is offering up one of the most annoying species in all of Trekdom.  I wonder if there will be variations to the mono-brow.  Heck I might just buy one to name him Reginod.

Check out all the details for Season One: Common Ground below.

Star Trek Online: Special Task Force 1 Available

We've been playing Star Trek Online like a tribble eats quadrotriticale.  While we were eating everything and reproducing, Cryptic has been busy putting together a new series of raids called, "Special Task Force".  This first installment, entitled infected, involves our favorite space zombies, the Borg. Check out the details and screenshot below.

In "Infected," you'll travel to the Sibiran system to investigate Starbase 82, a Federation space station that has ceased communicating with Starfleet. As you arrive, you're in for a true nightmare scenario: The Borg have taken Starbase 82, and are in the process of assimilating the people aboard!

We reported last week on the upcoming addon content for the super popular Star Trek Online.  For those who missed it, cryptic is planning all new content ,for those lucky enough to make it into the higher ranks, centered around the Borg.  Here's a quick refresher of what's planned.

What Does Star Trek Online Have In Store Next?

Star Trek Online is approaching it's first week since the official launch and has just reached over 1 million accounts.  On the heels of that news, the fine folks at Cryptic have lots more in store for us STO fanatics.  Apparently there's an entire Borg themed adventure that's coming down the pike.  Not only are the Borg coming in force, but it looks like we'll get a visit from our favorite omnipotent being, Q.

Star Trek Online's Head Start Begins With A Bang, A Few Hiccups, & A Few Suprises

Star Trek Online's official head Start begain today with tremendous response from the community.  We were there at 10:00 AM PST and had a tough time logging in and we weren't the only ones.  Many reports around the twitterverse were complaining of the same issue.  Finally, at a little after 10:30 we got our first response from the login server.

Another key problem right off the bat, was the availability of the "Lifetime Subscription" liberated Borg.  Many users were reporting that the Borg wasn't listed as a character option

Cryptic did release a quick update letting fans know that they are on top of the issues.

Cryptic Extends Star Trek Online Open Beta

Cryptic Extends Star Trek Online Open Beta

We've been phasering and photon torpedoing our way through the various quadrants of space on Star Trek Online.  Heck, we've hung out on Vulcan, rescued a few stranded cargo haulers, and decimated a few Klingons and Orions to boot.  The whole time we've been counting down til' the end of the open beta hoping it could last just a little bit longer.

I guess the prophets (or wormhole aliens, depending on your beliefs) heard our prayers.  Due to an "incredible response" and as a "thank you to our fans", Cryptic studios just announced that the ST:O open beta will be extended until tomorrow (January 26th) at 6:00 pm PST.

We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile. That statement alone is enough to give any space ferrying, warp capable civilization a case of the interstellar runs. We as the audience though, love every second of the space zombie madness.

My Reasons Behind Not Buying Star Trek Online: A Fans Perspective By David West

My Reasons Behind Not Buying Star Trek Online: A Fans Perspective By Dave West

I have been a long time fan of Star Trek, watching old reruns on Saturday afternoons back in the mid-1970s. I was at the Las Vegas Star Trek Convention when Cryptic Studios made their announcement about the creation of Star Trek Online. In fact, I was in line to ask a question during the webcast but it ended 2 people before I got to the microphone.

I was at last August’s Star Trek Convention, and was 15th in line to see the preview of the game. I was extremely excited about it, and eventually even hooked up with Sata Alvarez and the STO Radio/MMOJunkies bunch.
