I’ve been using this thing my whole life and then the other day it dawns on me, “hey wait a minute, why isn’t Qapla’ translated into English for me?” I mean really, it’s totally a translatable word, but for some reason I still hear it as Qapla’.

Trekcast, the hightest rated Star Trek podcast, has just dropped another episode on all of you unsuspecting sentient lifeforms.  This David, Darren, and Alicia talk all about the Star Trek Online open beta.  It seems to be the news of the day and Trekcast goes into detail covering both pros and cons of the new title.

With little info trickling out about J.J. Abrams's next installment of Star Trek and despite the half-way done claim by Zoe Saldana, it seems work is beginning on Star Trek XII.  In a recent interview with IF Magazine, J.J. reveals that about the progress of the next movie, as well as Leonard Nimoy's continued involvement with Fringe.  Check out the interview excerpt below.

Patrick Stewart is set to play in two Shakespeare productions this spring for PBS.  He's playing Claudius in Hamlet opposite Dr. Who star David Tennant and then a filmed version of the recent modern-dress broadway rendition of Macbeth.  This version of Macbeth will see the Scottish King exchanged for a modern day dictator.

"Great works of art endure, and the reason it endures is that it seems to have fresh source of meaning for each generation that comes along," says Stewart. "This is my 52nd year of doing this professionally, and all I wanted to do was act in Shakespeare. And for years, that's all I did. Then, other things happened."

I have been a long time fan of Star Trek, watching old reruns on Saturday afternoons back in the mid-1970s. I was at the Las Vegas Star Trek Convention when Cryptic Studios made their announcement about the creation of Star Trek Online. In fact, I was in line to ask a question during the webcast but it ended 2 people before I got to the microphone.

I was at last August’s Star Trek Convention, and was 15th in line to see the preview of the game. I was extremely excited about it, and eventually even hooked up with Sata Alvarez and the STO Radio/MMOJunkies bunch.
