Oklahoma Trek Fan Butch Roberts is putting his entire Trek memorabilia collection on display at his local library.  This is exactly the kind of stuff we love.  A local fan sharing his love for Trek with his community.

"I’ve always been into the whole ‘Star Trek’ phenomenon,” Roberts said. "This is something I genuinely enjoy doing.”

Why not start of the new year with a terrible interview featuring Marina Sirtis, Jonathan Frakes, LeVar Burton, and Brent Spiner from 1996. Thanks to the fine folks at Cinematical, they dug up this uncomfortable video clip hosted by two rather annoying interviews that hopefully aren't in the business any longer. As reported by Wired.com, a new site called SoundWorks Collection puts a spotlight on the sound design & designers of J.J. Abrams's "Star Trek".

A new alcohol substitute is being developed by a team at Imperial College London that that avoids drunkenness and hangovers.  Similar to the Synthehol from the TNG era series, the fake booze is being developed from chemicals related to Valium and works like alcohol on nerves in the brain that provide a feeling of well being and relaxation.  Check out the article excerpt below for more details.

The new substance could have the added bonus of being "switched off" instantaneously with a pill, to allow drinkers to drive home or return to work.

Zoe Saldana is not only busy with Avatar promotions, but she's also making more Star Trek XII predictions.  Star Trek XI's Uhura is kinda known for incorrect production assumptions, what with her Comic-Con claim of the Star Trek XII script being halfway done.  We can't really blame her though, we're just as excited to see the next film and we sure hope she's right about her latest prediction.

Deep Space Nine, our favorite Trek series of the momemnt, takes place on a distant Space Station located close to the opening of a wormhole that connects to quadrants of the galaxy.  Apparently, scientists are theorizing the possibility of this type of wormhole travel in the next century. 

J.J. Abrams's 'Star Trek" has been in several top ten lists this year including the top 10 grossing films of 2009.  One list that probably isn't favorable in the studio's mind is the top ten most pirated films of 2009.  According to WorstPreviews.com, "Star Trek" has done just that and more.  In fact, it's the most pirated film this year.  Check out the article excerpt below.

Gingerbread houses and Gingerbread men, sure, we've seen them.  But, this is definitely a first.  Check the image above for the first Gingerbread Enterprise we've seen.  We found the creation over at Slippery Brick, and we would definitely give an A for effort.  Although, it kinda looks like there's a bit of lettuce on the hull.

Tis the season for all manner of geeky desserts. We’ve seen our share around here, whether they be Star Wars or Star Trek. All are delicious if not nutritious.
