Trek Fan Boldly Goes To Jail For Fighting (In His Uniform)
While surfing the interwebs, I ran across an article written by Bruce Mckean of the Dailymercury.com.au. It seems a fellow Trek Fan got into a bit of trouble for fighting in the town square of Mackay, in Queensland Australia. Apparently fan Nathan Lewis had been out all night with his other Trek friends and had taken some guff for wearing his uniform out on the town. From what I can gather, he apparently gave his antagonist a few punches and possibly a Kirk style two-legged jump kick before police intervened.

Bethesda Softworks Considered Developing A Star Trek: TOS Single Player RPG
Two of our favorite PC games over the past decade have been "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" and "Fallout 3". Imagine, an RPG much like those two amazing games, but in the Star Trek: TOS Universe. This could have been a reality according to Bethesda studio head Todd Howard. Bethesda had the rights to Star Trek for a very short period and considered the game. Unfortunately, it never made it past the pitch phase. We found the article via The Escapist, but Howard made that revelation on Kotaku's podcast last week. Check out the article excerpt below.
Star Trek XII Release Date Announced
Those hoping for a 2011 release date for the sequel to J.J. Abrams "Star Trek" have to wait a bit longer. Paramount announced a tentative June 29th, 2012 for the opening of Star Trek XII. As reported by ComingSoon.com, it's the only movie scheduled for that time frame so far. We're pretty excited that Paramount and Bad Robot didn't decide on a quick turnaround. The sequel needs time to be made right. Plus, we're pretty sure that J.J., Roberto Orci, and Alex Kurtzman have lots on their plates.

Star Trek's Nomination For Producers Guild Awards Could Be Oscar Precursor
According to an article in the LA Times, J.J. Abrams's "Star Trek" recieved a nomination for the Producers Guild of America Awards. It seems that this year's PGAA is chock full'o SciFi. "District 9" and "Avatar" are among the 10 nominees announced. Apparently, the winner of the Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year film award is a precursor for some 13 Oscar best picture winners over the two last decadse. We can dream can't we. I mean, what are the chances that a Trek film would win let alone be nominated for an Oscar. What a crazy time to be a Trek fan!

Motorola Unveils Comm Badge. It's Just A Little Bit Bigger Than Captain Picard's
Uh, yeah, we know that's not a picture of Captain Picard. :)
Motorola announced today that it would be launching a brand new device that would allow users to have push-to-talk capabilities in a wearable badge form.
Called the Team Badge, the device is a voice-over-wireless local area networking (VoWLAN) technology that eliminates the need for companies to rely on cellular services for communication within a defined region, said Frank Riso, Motorola senior director for retail solutions.
Now if we could just get it in a smaller package, let's say, in a delta shield shape, we'd buy two. Check out more from the article at CTOEdge below.
'Star Trek' Digital Download Not Going Boldy With Some Fans
According to a recent article from IDG News Service, some Trek fans are experiencing difficulties in redeeming their digital download copy of the new J.J. Abrams "Star Trek". Apparently when fans try to redeem the digital download from their Blu-ray version of the film, the code is coming back as already being used. Yikes, ComputerWorld.com speculates that some of the codes may have been seeded in torrents around the web.
