Here is your chance to see a Star Trek alum in person, plus…it’s free. Nichelle Nichols will be a performing vocalist in “Human Spaceflight: The Kennedy Legacy” at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, May 25th at 7pm. Also performing are the Space Philharmonic, Soldier’s Chorus of The US Army Field Band, and many more.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) invites you to a special musical celebration honoring 50 years of American spaceflight. Even though this is a free event tickets are still required, and as far as we can tell, the only way to get tickets is in line at the Hall of Nations beginning at 5pm the day of the event.
Star Trek's Nana Visitor and John DeLancie Guest Star in “Torchwood: Miracle Day”
Starz Entertainment has announced that Nana Visitor (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) and John DeLancie (Next Gen, DS9, Voy) will be among the guest stars in their new 10-episode, hour-long series, “Torchwood: Miracle Day”. For those unfamiliar with the show, "Torchwood" was created by Russell T Davies. The series is a spin-off from Davies' 2005 revival of the long-running science fiction program "Doctor Who". We were kinda hoping that a Bajoran and a Omnipotent being were new additions to the show's characters, but no luck...
George Takei Is Proud Of Star Trek's Legacy
As most of you know, our favorite helmsman turned captain, George Takei, was a guest at the Motor City ComicCon over the weekend. Along with Kate Mulgrew & Brent Spiner, George was available for photo-ops & autographs to the pleasure of Detroit Area Trek Fans. Right before the con though, George was interviewed by The Detroit news. There, He spills the beans on his role in "Supah Ninjas" and why he called out Warner Bros. over their "Akira" casting choices, but more importantly we learn that George is very proud of Star Trek's legacy.
Life After Trek Podcast Episode 9 Featuring Crystal Allen
We’re pleased to announce the ninth episode of our “Life After Trek” podcast, featuring Crystal Allen. Many of you will remember Crystal from her role as D'Nesh in the Enterprise episode "Bound". D'Nesh was one of the Orion Slave Girls used to gain control of the Enterprise and subdue Captain Archer and his crew. Crystal was also involved in the Tim Russ helmed fan film "Star Trek: Of Gods and Men" were she played Conqueror Navigator Yara.
We originally met Crystal at last year's Starbase Indy convention, but unfortunately ran into technical difficulties and were unable to record the interview live. Crystal was a great sport and called in to provide you guys & gals with insight into her time spent in the Trek universe. If you haven't checked out "Of Gods and Men", be sure to do so. You can find more info here on the official website.
We hope you enjoy listening to this episode as much as we did recording it. Be sure to stop by the official Crystal Allen website here to see what projects she has in store.

Khan's School For Superior Intellect? Nope... It's Even Better
Hi hi group! What do you think of when someone mentions the name Khan? Totally rad space mullet? Gloriously shiny and bulging pectoral muscles? Genetic enhancement and great strength? Actually the one thing that The Wrath of Khan drives home is superior intellect. Even Captain Kirk mentions it, saying, [hailing Khan] “This is Admiral Kirk. We tried it once your way, Khan, are you game for a rematch? Khan, I'm laughing at the ‘superior intellect.’” Well, who’s laughing now Kirk? It seems that there’s a new school in town called the Khan Academy and it’s free, it’s world class, and it’s open to everyone.
They describe themselves this way,
Here's Your Ubiquitous Star Trek XII News Roundup
Star Trek XII, or "Star Trek 2" as some call it, is a little more than a year out from beaming into theaters and we're definitely looking forward to seeing Chris Pine and the gang back in action. We've been shying away from reporting on Star Trek XII simply because the quality of news about the sequel in the rebooted franchise has been less than stellar, pun intended. Sure, secrecy is important. We get that. We're just a little less than excited about filling Subspace Communique with a constant stream of drips and drabs of news about J.J. Abrams's next blockbuster. Until now... That's right it's your Ubiquitous Star Trek XII News Roundup.
Spend An Evening With Star Trek's Leonard Nimoy At Boston University Tomorrow Night
Our favorite Vulcan, and legend in his own right, Leonard Nimoy will be speaking at Boston University tomorrow night (March 9th, 2011). The Friends of the Libraries at Boston University will host "An Evening with Actor Leonard Nimoy", where Leonard will lecture on his long career in Hollywood. Here's an amazing chance to listen to true a Trek icon in a slightly different setting, outside of the usual convention faire. If we were in Boston, you know we'd be there in a heartbeat. As an added note, for those who were already attending, there has been a venue change for the lecture. Check out the full details and press release below.
