Anniversary Contest With Prizes! On April 4th Subspace Communique Turns 2
Notice how we didn’t include the word “number” in our title. We’re so excited to reach our anniversary of bringing you Trek culture, news and reviews for the last two years we could almost dematerialize *happy claps*. Investigating the world of Trek Culture and bringing it to our readers has been our primary goal since we began. However we have to admit, that it wasn’t totally inspired by altruistic motives…honestly…it’s just a whole heck of a lot of fun! With Subspace Communique, we’ve gotten to do so many fantabulous new things it’d be impossible to list them all. Some of our favorite moments from the last two years are; attending conventions all over the U.S., chatting with Star Trek cast and crew, meeting our readers and making a whole bunch of new friends!
Data Feed: Roddenberry Transmitter Reports; First Six Star Trek Films to be remastered in 3D... ;)
Did you get the most recent Roddenberry.com transmitter? Remember the date kids....
Roddenberry Productions is set to remaster the original six films adding all new 3D effects for the space scenes. In addition, the films will be psuedo-3D'd for a possible return to big screen 3D cinema. Leonard Nimoy's character Spock will be digitally replaced with a 3D animated alien (Jar Har Har) that is going to provide all sorts of comedic relief... "We think the kids are just going to get a real kick out of him." (source Roddenberry Transmitter)
Okay, we thought this was extremely funny and had to share it. Oh, and, we were fooled until Spock was replaced by Jar Har Har... Love it!
Star Trek’s Leonard Nimoy To Voice A Character In The New Transformers Film
Just announced today, Mr. Spock Leonard Nimoy will be a voice actor in the new “Transformers: Dark of the Moon”, set to be released in July 2011. He is set to be the voice for Sentinel Prime.
Apart from his obvious Star Trek cred, Nimoy also has a history with Hasbro’s shape-shifting alien robots: He was the voice of Galvatron in 1986?s “The Transformers: The Movie.”
Data Feed: Happy Birthday To Star Trek TNG's Marina Sirtis
Happy Birthday to our favorite ship's counselor Marina Sirtis. I wonder if she knew that we were going to say that... According to Memory Alpha, Marina was born this day in 1955 in the London Borough of Hackney to Greek parents who initially did not want her to pursue a career in acting. She trained at the Royal Shakespeare Company, affiliated with the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, to which she had to apply in secret so her parents would not find out. Once she earned a name for herself in the theater, she went on to television. Having grown up in London, she became a huge soccer fan (her brother plays the sport in Greece), and a supporter of Tottenham Hotspur FC.
Finances May Torpedo Riverside Iowa's Trek Fest
Since 1985 the self proclaimed future birthplace of Captain James T. Kirk has held it's annual Trek Fest, drawing Star Trek fans worldwide. This year though, Trek Fest is in danger of boldly going the way of the dodo (bird that is) due to financial restraints. According to an article on Press-Citizen.com, the Riverside City Council failed to pass a motion giving funds to the Riverside Area Community Club (RACC), the group responsible for Trek Fest.

Star Trek’s Leonard Nimoy Is 80 Today. Happy Birthday To You, Sir! Live Long & Prosper!!
We’d like to wish Leonard Nimoy a VERY Happy Birthday today, on this, his 80th year!! Happy Birthday Leonard, you’ve entertained and enlightened us, and we thank you!
Leonard Nimoy has been in a ton of films and TV shows. Trust me; looking through his IMDB page almost gave my scroll finger carpal tunnel. Although he wrote and narrated one of my favorite documentary series of all time, “In Search Of”, the role that we all hold dearest to our hearts is that lovable Vulcan, Spock.
Here’s some of our favorite moments with Spock. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
