Doug has released a text free version of the "Declassified" cover, as well a sneak peak of the "What Judgements Come" artwork.
If you're unfamiliar with "Vanguard", the series is set aboard Starbase 47, also known as Vanguard, a 23rd century station in a remote region of space. The series was launched back in 2005 with "Star Trek Vanguard: Harbinger" " by David Mack and has seen four successful sequels (Summon the Thunder , Reap the Whirlwind , Open Secrets , & Precipice ).
The upcoming "Declassified" is a set of novellas written by Dayton Ward, Kevin Dilmore, David Mack, & Marco Palmieri. Dayton was recently interviewed by Unreality-SF.net and revealed that his contribution to the book, called "Almost Tomorrow", is set before the events in Vanguard's first book "Harbinger".
"I borrowed an idea from a television series I really like, The Shield. During that show’s second season, they aired an episode called Co-Pilot, which took several steps back to the timeframe just before the series’ first episode and showed us how various key characters came to be." Dayton Continues, “I thought that a similar setup would work for a Vanguard story, let me flesh out a few bits of backstory for some of the series’ characters, and show you the motivations and circumstances that put them where they are when we’re introduced to them in the first Vanguard novel."
Be sure to check out the interview in it's entirety, Dayton gives even more details about "Declassified" including insight into Kevin Dilmore's Contribution "Hard News". Plus, it's just a fantastic read for any Dayton Ward fan.
We also contacted Dayton about "What Judgements Come", which he's co-written with Kevin Dilmore, but unfortunately he can't let the cat out of the bag just yet.
