Khan's School For Superior Intellect? Nope... It's Even Better

Hi hi group! What do you think of when someone mentions the name Khan? Totally rad space mullet? Gloriously shiny and bulging pectoral muscles? Genetic enhancement and great strength? Actually the one thing that The Wrath of Khan drives home is superior intellect. Even Captain Kirk mentions it, saying, [hailing Khan] “This is Admiral Kirk. We tried it once your way, Khan, are you game for a rematch? Khan, I'm laughing at the ‘superior intellect.’” Well, who’s laughing now Kirk? It seems that there’s a new school in town called the Khan Academy and it’s free, it’s world class, and it’s open to everyone.

They describe themselves this way,

The Khan Academy is an organization on a mission. We're a not-for-profit with the goal of changing education for the better by providing a free world-class education to anyone anywhere.

All of the site's resources are available to anyone. It doesn't matter if you are a student, teacher, home-schooler, principal, adult returning to the classroom after 20 years, or a friendly alien just trying to get a leg up in earthly biology. The Khan Academy's materials and resources are available to youcompletely free of charge.

They go on to say,

We're a small team trying our best to improve the way the world learns. Too many people around the globe don’t have access to good education materials, or they are forced to learn through a system that doesn't properly cater to their individual needs. We think the technology exists today to fundamentally change this, and we're trying to build the tools and resources every student deserves.

We believe a few great people can make a big difference. We strive to hire the very best — people who are passionate, thoughtful and creative. We believe it is our obligation to relentlessly focus on what the student values, and we make every decision with the student in mind.

It’s one of the coolest ideas I’ve heard of in quite some time. They teach you practically any subject at any level via video instruction. The instructor goes over the subject, often times, from several perspectives so that people with different learning styles can understand the concepts.

Plus this is totally free! How much more 23rd century can you get?!?!

This is such an awesome idea, that I’m totally planning on taking some classes. Maybe I’ll learn that fancy Physics everyone is talking about and build myself a warp engine. …Do you think they offer a course in Stellar Cartography?
