Patrick Stewart Prefers Television Fights To Those On The Stage
Captain Jean Luc Picard is better know for his diplomacy and wit than his sheer brawn and fighting prowess. Not to say that he didn't throw down on occasion, but he was quicker to talk and think than punch an advisory in the throat. We'll leave the double jump kicks to Captain Kirk. It appears though, that Patrick Stewart would rather double jump kick a Gorn than face a crazed actor in a Shakespearian play. In an interview for Radio Times (via Belfast Telegraph), the on-screen Captain reveals that fight scenes on the stage frighten him.
Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 1 Remastered Blu-Ray Set May Be In Stores This July
As we reported back in January, Star Trek: The Next Generation - Next Level was released on Blu-ray. The four episode sampler was the first example of TNG remastered and in high-def. We just learned that a date is being reported for the full remastered first season of Picard & his crew and we could be seeing it as early as July.
Larry Nemecek Finds The Z-Man Alive & Well In Bozeman
As you all know, First Contact Day celebrations we're held by Trek fans all over the world on April 5th. Yes, we were to busy celebrating to write anything, but let's just say we did the Z-man proud. Our good friend Larry Nemecek did one better than just report about First Contact day, he went out and found the possible future warp engineer in Bozeman, Montana.
Howard Stern Made "Oh My!" My Signature; Says George Takei
The ever popular and fantastic smelling George Takei was in Seatle over the weekend for Emeral City ComicCon. During the convention he took part in a question and answer panel hosted by none-other-than Danny Bonaduce.. Random, right? Anyway, George answered a few run of the mill questions, but one that peeked our interest was the origin of his signature catch phrase "Ohh Myyy!". According to George; it's something He's used all his life, but didn't become wide spread until The King of all Media got his hands on it.
The Borg Had To Start Somewhere…
I don’t know about you, but I’ve seen a lot of science fiction movies in my time and it’s beginning to seem like they’re predicting the future. Ya, I know what you’re gonna say…”duhhh”. Well, I don’t mean just in a good way like space travel and tricorders, but in a slightly more maniacal way too. I mean really, I don’t think it’s the best idea to teach primates to speak, give machines self-awareness, or start passing out green colored “mystery food” in the shape of squares. So when I saw the title of this particular article “Robots to organize themselves like a swarm of insects” it got my attention. Now, it’s not necessarily a hive mind they’re talking about…oh wait…yes it is.
J.J. Abrams Raises "Shields" Around Star Trek 2 Set
We all know how secretive J.J. Abrams can be with any film he's directing. As a fan, I can appreciate this. I'm one of the few (it seems) that still likes to be surprised when I drop $47 to see the latest schlop that Hollywood has to offer (I'm not putting J.J's Star Trek in the schlop category). Although, running a Star Trek website and reporting on the most recent Star Trek 2 happenings just adds to the problems, but I digress...
Shooting Wraps On Alexander Siddig's "Inescapable"
If you're reading this site then you probably know by now that we're huge Deep Space Nine fans. What can we say, we love it. We also love following the goings-on of the DS9 cast... Not to mention that most of our Life After Trek interviews have been with former DS9'ers, as well. Let's see, we have Chase, Armin, Max, Aron, Jeffery, Tony, & Natalija. Not a bad line-up, if I do say so myself. One person we would love to talk to is Alexander Siddig; Dr. Bashir, to you and me. So Alexander, if you're out there, hit us up. We'd love to interview you. In lieu of that, we just got word that his new film Inescapable has just wrapped shooting and is headed to post production. Big thanks to Subspace Comms reader Sheri for filling us in.
Now It’s Leonard Nimoy’s Birthday. What, what?!?!
It’s March 26th, and today is Leonard Nimoy’s 81st birthday!! Happy Birthday Mr. Nimoy!! I don’t know why, but I always feel like I need to be more grown up when I write about Leonard Nimoy. It’s not like I respect him more than the rest of the cast, but his personal grace and demeanor seem to signal my brain to “stand up tall”, “make good eye contact” and “stop using slang”. Of course…that’s all out the window tonight.
Roddenberry Entertainment's "Days Missing" To Be Developed For TV & Film
As many of you know, we've been covering the ever evolving "Days Missing" IP from our friends at Roddenberry Entertainment for some time now. We just got word that they are partnering with Benderspink to co-develop the award-winning graphic novel series for television and film, marking the first TV show based on a Roddenberry property since Star Trek: Enterprise.
