Costumed Star Trek Fans Are Poised To Break The World Record At Creation Entertainment's Official Star Trek Convention, Las Vegas
It's that time of year again where the Grandaddy of all Star Trek conventions quickly approaches. The place where everyone knows your name... not cheers... Vegas Khhaaann! Actually, Creation Entertainment's Official STAR TREK Convention, Las Vegas. The one place on earth where you can hang with all of your Trek friends and family, see four out of the five Trek captains, and play Trek slot machines. Not only will William Shatner, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, & Scott Bakula be in attendance, but over 70 Star Trek celebrities will beam in for the four full days of awesomeness. As many of you know and probably attended, the Guiness Book of World Records certified that the record for having the most people in Star Trek costumes in one place was broken during last years Vegas Khhaaan! 1040 of you gathered and smashed the previous record. This year, Creation Entertainment is setting a time & place to break the record yet again.

We thought that you fine folks in Trekdom would appreciate knowing that remastered versions of TNG on Blu-ray is now available for pre-order through Amazon . With the rave reviews of Star Trek: The Next Generation - Next Level, we're really excited about the release of season 1. Heck, get to season 3 and we'll be super excited. Not to say that we don't enjoy season 1, "The Neutral Zone" is one of our favorite TNG episodes, but we can't wait to see "Yesterday's Enterprise" remastered and in hi-def. The set will be released July 24th.
Star Trek Movies Headed To Amazon Prime Instant Video
In breaking news today, Amazon announced a new partnership with Paramount that will roll out hundreds of hit moves to the internet giant's poplar Prime Instant Video service. According to the press release, Star Trek will be counted among the hundreds. No word on whether that will include all eleven Trek films. Also included in the list are Braveheart, Top Gun, The Italian Job and Forrest Gump, just to name a few.
All Five Star Trek Captains On Board For Philadelphia Comic Con
We've said it before and we'll say it again, we love Wizard World Comic Cons. They run some of the best conventions in the business. It seems that their world famous Philadelphia Comic Con is shaping up to be, not only a well run convention, but also a Trek fan's dream come true. All five captains are signed on as guests for the upcoming, May 31st through June 3rd convention. That's right woodchuck-chuckers, William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, & Scott Bakula are beaming down to the city of brotherly love. Really, you could say 6 captains will be on board since Chris Hemsworth will also be a featured guest. Chris plays Thor in all the Marvel awesomeness that's going on lately, but he also played George Kirk. He was captain of the USS Kelvin for 12 minutes, after all...
SpaceX To Pay Special Tribute To Star Trek’s Jimmy Doohan
As many of you know, some of Jimmy Doohan’s remains were originally slated to be launched into space back in 2008. Unfortunately, when the rocket failed to reach orbit that dream wasn’t realized. Celestis, the company responsible for making sure that tribute happens, has contracted with SpaceX to launch Jimmy’s ashes on the next Falcon 9 launch. The new mission was scheduled for launch yesterday (May 19th), but due to a malfunction it’s been rescheduled for Tuesday May 22nd.
Leonard Nimoy To Receive Honorary Doctorate From Boston University
Leonard Nimoy, a Boston native, has had a wide spanning career throughout Hollywood. The 81-year-old actor, director, & accomplished photographer can now add Doctor to his well versed resume. According to BU Today, Leonard will receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree this Sunday (May 20th). The day before he receives his degree, Leonard will also give the College of Fine Arts convocation address at Boston University where he will encourage graduating seniors to have "Persistence, Persistence, Persistence".

There's no formal announcement that Damon will be discussing Star Trek 2, but how could he not?
