Yeah, we've guessed Gary Mitchell. Sure, we've said Landru or The Doomsday Machine. Heck, we've even thrown around The Horta, but who the heck is John Harrison? According to a recently released Paramount publicity still, that's who Benedict Cumberbatch is playing in Star Trek Into Darkness. Okay, okay, we get it. Maybe it's more of J.J's skillful subterfuge. Maybe it was released just to get the blogosphere (I so hate that word) whirring. Well, guess what kids? It worked.

Would this unknown character make the die hard fans happy? Potentially. I can imagine the internet buzz now... "Oh good, it's not Khan or Gary Mitchell." But, is that better? Not to me. I would prefer it be someone familiar. After all, this is an alternate reality. Why not showcase a known character and give him a goatee? Oh wait... That's a parallel universe... I'm so confused.

UPDATE and possible spoilers:  Geek Tyrant is claiming that Klingons will be in the film and they're also posting that Alice Eve will be playing Carol Marcus.  

In the meantime, we get another great shot from the upcoming film.
