If you're like me, Starlog Magazine has a very special place in your heart. Outside of Star Trek Communicator, Starlog was the one way to find out all the current info regarding Star Trek, Star Wars, and any other scifi television series or movie. This was pre-internet days we're talking about. Unfortunately, Starlog ceased operations in April of 2009, but its memory lives on in the form of 20 years of issues being available through The Internet Archive.

We’re pleased to announce episode 24 of our “Life After Trek” podcast featuring Dan Madsen. Dan is know for forming the first official Star Trek fan club, creating Star Trek Communicator Magazine, and running the official Lucasfilm Fan Club for nearly 20 years, just to name a few. Being a longtime fan of Star Trek, beginning with TOS syndication in the 70s, Dan started his jaunt into the fan club scene with a small ad in Starlog Magazine in 1979. The fan club grew with leaps and bounds until 1982 when he was approached by Paramount to head the first officially licensed Star Trek fan club. Dan has been a major force in Trekdom for over 30 years and has continued his work today with the extremely popular Her Universe clothing and collectibles company.

Dan Madsen, Star Trek Fan club and Communicator founder, recently sat down for a candid interview with Leonard Nimoy.  Dan asks Leonard several insightful questions that have yet to be asked in all the coverage of the new film.  Check out the excerpt below.

DM: Leonard, when you heard for the very first time that there was a new Star Trek film in the works and they wanted you to play Spock again, was there a part of you that said inside, “No, I’m done with that character?”
