Trek Nation Release Date Set For November 30th On Science

Hey gang, we just reported on an interview with Rod Roddenberry for his upcoming documentary Trek Nation. Like we've said before, we're eagerly anticipating this film and look forward to seeing it grace the screen. Looks like a release date has finally been set for November 30th, 2011 on Science. If that's not enough to peak your interest, Science and Roddenberry Productions just released a brand new clip that features Rod talking with Bob Justman and several other Trek alumni. We're super stoked to see the release, too bad we have to wait until November.

Happy 45th Anniversary To Star Trek, Continuing To Go Boldly...

So I have something to admit first and foremost... I would have written this article earlier tonight, but I lost track of time watching the Star Trek: The Original series episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before". Which, really brings me to the point of this article. Exactly 45 years ago today Star Trek: The Original Series, or just Star Trek, as it was known, took to the airwaves. Gene Roddenberry's dream and vision took shape and graced America's living rooms and it hasn't been the same since. I don't mean that in a negative way of course. Star Trek has had a much farther reach and impact than anyone at the time could have imagined.

Video Interview: Rod Roddenberry Talks Trek Nation & The Star Trek Legacy

In an interview with Live Fit Magazine and recorded at San Diego Comic Con, Eugene "Rod" Roddenberry talks about the forthcoming documentary Trek Nation that's set for release this fall. As many of you know, Science Channel and Roddenberry Productions are partnering to release Trek Nation in October November to be aired on Science. Honestly, we've been looking forward to Trek Nation since we first heard about it back in 2005. It's been a long time coming, but we really do feel that this will be the Trek fan documentary to watch.

Trek Nation strikes a strong balance between exploring a science fiction phenomenon and relating a very universal story between a son and his father. I have every confidence that Star Trek fans and non-Star Trek fans alike are going to enjoy the film." Says Rod. Along with Trek Nation, Live Fit discussed Rod's other passion, scuba Diving.

A Section 31 Desktop Wallpaper That Would Make Luther Sloan Very Proud

A Section 31 Desktop Wallpaper That Would Make Luther Sloan Very Proud

Today I was messing around in Photoshop, as I'm known to do from time to time, and created a new desktop wallpaper for my laptop. Ya see, I own a Lenovo ThinkPad X220 tablet and with it's sleek matte black looks and finish, I figured why not give it a stealthy clandestine looking wallpaper with some Trek flare. Of course the first thing to pop in my head was the venerable Luther Sloan from Section 31. We really don't know much about section 31 other than they don't really exist. Oh, and, they like screwing with Dr. Bashir... I generally use the Starfleet delta shield for my wallpaper and thought that even though Sloan can be a real dirt bag from time to time, he would still appreciate his own insignia. So, I chose the delta shield pattern used in the late 2370's (Generations / Voyager / Deep Space Nine), added some finesse, a nicely placed 31, and viola I'm rocking a new desktop wallpaper.

The SciFi Diner Interviews The Director & Co-Writers From The Michael Dorn Project "Liberator"

In July, we featured an article about an upcoming project that desperately needed your help. Called Liberator, and starring Lou Ferrigno, Peta Wilson, Michael Dorn, Don 'The Dragon" Wilson, & Ed Asner, it revolves around a disgraced, washed-up, ex superhero (played by Lou Ferrigno) whose secret black ops past catches up with him -- just as he's trying to put his life back together. The good news is that Liberator got it's funding and will see completion. The even better news is that our buddies Scott & Miles from The SciFi Diner podcast just released their interview with Liberator director / co-writer Aaron Pope & co-writer / producer Jim Cirile.

Unlike other superhero flicks out there, Liberator is based very much in the politics of now. This is a real person in the real world. He's a superhero, yes, but he's also a man and a father dealing with the things that affect us all as humans. It's this personal emotional element that really sets the character, and this project, apart from others in the genre.

Star Trek: Voyager's Kate Mulgrew Stars In George Bernard Shaw's "The Millionairess" In NYC

Star Trek: Voyager's Kate Mulgrew Stars In George Bernard Shaw's "The Millionairess" In NYC

Since CBS finally launched most of Star Trek on streaming, offered by Netflix, I've been watching tons of Voyager. Really?, you say. Yes, and I've been thoroughly enjoying it. Maybe it's because we recently saw Kate Mulgrew at Vegas Khhaaan! and she completely stole the show. We'll, in our minds she did. She's also been rocking in Warehouse 13, as of late. If you're a Kate fan, like we are, you'll want to see her in George Bernard Shaw's The MILLIONAIRESS. The one time showing will be held September 26th at The Player's Club in New York City. A part of "Project Shaw", The MILLIONAIRESS was written in 1935 and is a madcap comedy about the richest woman in the world, who embarks on a life-changing journey through lawyers' offices, sweat-shops, and out of the way hotels, finally confronting herself in surprising ways. Kate will be playing the part of Epifania Fitzfassenden, the lead character and Millionairess. Be sure to check out the brief synopsis and show details below.

Star Trek: Enterprise's Scott Bakula Makes UK Stage Debut In "Terrible Advice"

While we slowly recover from what seems to be the Cardassian Flu, we stumbled across a bit of news for Scott Bakula fans in the UK. It seems he's making his UK stage debut in the world premiere of Saul Rubinek’s Terrible Advice. The new play will make it's stage premiere at London's Menier Chocolate Factory on September 22nd. Directed by the legendary Frank Oz (uh huh, that Frank Oz), the play is described as dark, dirty & dangerous.

Set for a limited run from September 22nd to November 12th, Terrible Advice is written by Saul Rubinek another Trek alum. You'll remember Saul as Kivas Fajo from the TNG episode "The Most Toys", one of our favorites. I guess Kivas is adding one starship captain to his collection. If we were in the UK, this would be on our calendars. Tickets start at £29.50 (£25.00 during previews) and you can find more info & synopsis below.

Terrible Advice Synopsis:
Stanley (Stinky to his friends) and Jake are best friends. Hedda and Delila are best friends. Jake loves Hedda; Stinky loves Delila. Stinky plans to marry Delila...until Jake shares some secrets and then gives him some advice... (source)

Star Trek: Voyager's Kate Mulgrew Talks About Warehouse 13

We're still living off of the adrenaline of Vegas Khhaaan!, or Creation Entertainment's 45th anniversary Star Trek convention Las Vegas, as mere mortals know it. One of the highlights of the show for us was watching Kate Mulgrew on stage. Not only could she hold her own with Sir Patrick & Sir Billiam (BTW, if you noticed, we're trying to start an internet meme with that...), but Kate was also fantastic with the fans. She was truly engaged and willing to answer any question in stride. Let's face it, we love Kate. Tonight she made her debut in Warehouse 13 on Syfy and recently TVology sat down and talked to Kate about her character and the Warehouse 13 regulars.

"Saul Rubinek is one of the great actors, I think of our generation -- certainly my generation. And I felt, he's consummate and he's unexpected. So I had to step up to the plate whenever I was acting with him. Joanne Kelly is like a delicious confection. And Eddie McClintock, I would have to tell you, as well as Allison Scagliotti, are natural actors. So it's like playing ball with people who are the best; you really have to play badly not to hit well."
