As reported on Hollywood Today, John Cho (Sulu) was concerned that some Japanese-Americans might take issue with the fact that Sulu was being played by a Korean-American as opposed to a Japanese-American.  So, he took the issue to George Takei.

Cinefex, a quarterly professional magazine dedicated to special effects, will feature the forthcoming move 'Star Trek' in it's next issue. Covering in detail both physical and CGI special effects, the article will give a behind the scenes look into the making of the new J.J. Abrams directed film.

With it's original issue covering the making of 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture', it's only fitting that Cinefex covers the most recent installment in the trek universe.

The troops will get an extra treat at AAFES’ Reel Time Theater: The actors playing the new recruits on the Starship Enterprise will also attend — Captain Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), Nero (Eric Bana), Dr. McCoy (Karl Urban) and Lt. Sulu (John Cho). Director J.J. Abrams also will be on hand.

A brand new clip from the upcoming 'Star Trek' features Spock as acting captain of the Enterprise. Spock meets Scotty for the first time and apparently Kirk and Scotty both transported aboard while at warp.

WAToday.com.au has the first video review for the JJ Abrams film 'Star Trek'. The glowing review only has one minor complaint; "Nero, played by Eric Bana, doesn't get enough screen time to make him more than a one dimensional plot device".

Reuters reports on the opening of 'Star Trek' at the Sydney Opera House. It includes fan reaction and interviews with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto.

As reported by Trek Movie, JJ Abrams and the stars of 'Star Trek' answer fan questions in a series of videos from the world premiere in Sydney.

Questions were submitted by fans through the social networking site Twitter. They ranged from "how does the music in this movie compare to the other Star Trek movie scores?" to "How did you prepare for the role of Bones without having DeForest Kelley around to offer guidance?" ask of Karl Urban.
