We've been hitting the DS9 pretty hard the last few weeks and got to thinking about Alexander Siddig (Dr. Bashir).. He's made quite a career for himself since leaving the station's sick bay (most recently with his work on Primeval) and his next project Inescapable is going to be a worthy addition. According to Variety,  The film, written and directed by Ruba Nadda, is the story of a Syrian expatriate (Siddig) whose journalist daughter goes missing in Damascus. He must return to his homeland to find her despite the risks, and calls on a former love to help him. An embassy official is at first helpful but may have an agenda of his own

Happy birthday to a very special Klingon security officer, Michael Dorn turns 59 today (December 9th). Michael started off his career in Hollywood playing an uncredited role in the hit Sylvester Stalone film Rocky. He then moved on to black & white, cars that is. Michael played Officer Turner in a prominent fixture from my child, CHIPs. Of course we all remember the irascible Lt. Cmdr. Worf from our beloved Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and subsequent films. On this special day, we'd like to pay tribute to Michael with something we haven't done in a while. That's right kids, it's time for a Youtube Video Round-up: Happy Birthday Worf edition.

Yes kiddies! You heard that right! NASA has discovered a planet that is the right temperature, the right location in its solar system, and possibly has the right amount of water to sustain life.  I want to say “how cool is that!?!?” but I won’t do that to you this time…oh, wait… This Super-Earth sized planet is the first “confirmed” find of its kind in a habitable zone outside of our solar system.

Ok, so Peter Weller has already battled Lectroids from the 8th dimension (Planet 10, for you sticklers) and cleaned up the (future) streets of Detroit, making his adventuring days behind him, right? Not so! He has been announced the latest addition to the J.J. Abrams cast of Star Trek XII.

J.J. Abrams has tapped veteran thesp Peter Weller for the ensemble cast of Paramount's upcoming "Star Trek" sequel.

Specifics of Weller's role are under wraps. His selection came on the heels of Abrams choosing Alice Eve as a character that's believed to be new.

With next weekend (December 9-11) almost upon us, Starbase Indy is approaching at warp speed. The official schedule is up online and ready for giddy excitement. With most of the guests appearing both Saturday and Sunday it’s sure to be an awesome show.

So kids, one more day until the release of Trek Nation! ... Yeah, we're excited too. If you've listened to our interview with Rod Roddenberry, you know that there's literally days of extra footage that didn't make it into this cut of the film. Not B-roll either, but fantastic interviews and features that could easily make Trek Nation an on-going TV series. In an effort to get this awesome footage out to fans, Trek Nation director Scott Colthorp is releasing episodes of a new web series called Trek Nation Director's Log via Youtube. The first four episodes are now available and feature interviews with Sir Patrick Stewart, Nichelle Nichols, composer Brian Langsbard, and fan Lydia Chilton. We know her as the Khan girl from Vegas 2010...

Since we're getting closer to the filming of Star Trek XII, more news is starting roll out about the sequel in the J.J-verse. Yesterday we learned that Michael Giacchino will be returning as composer on XII and today Paramount has set the release date for May 17th, 2013. That's right folks almost a full year off from the original June 29th, 2012 release date. Let's hope the Mayans & George Lucas aren't right, because I really want to see this.

If you've been to our site before, then you know that we thoroughly enjoyed J.J. Abrams's version of Trek. That also includes the score. Michael Giacchino made the perfect emotional accompaniment to J.J's striking visuals. We just learned from ComingSoon.net that Michael will be returning to write the score for Star Trek XII or Star Trek 2 as some are calling it.
