We just got word that Leonard Nimoy underwent an emergency abdominal surgery and according to his rep is "recovering beautifully." The 79 year-old actor was set to appear at the Chicago Star Trek Convention & a special event in Long Beach, CA this weekend, but obviously had to cancel to due to what they're calling "a minor benign abdominal surgery."

We’re used to seeing Nana Visitor take command of space stations, unruly aliens and tough intergalactic situations but now we get to see another side to her set of skills…command of fine cuisine. Now based in New Mexico, Nana’s newest role is Creator of Decadent Desserts for Un Petit Morceau, a specialty baking company that features artisanal desserts.

Now, we just got word that the next edition of the series will go on sale tomorrow and features the TOS episode "Journey to Babel". This iconic episode features our first encounter with Spock's father & mother (Sarek & Amanda) as well the Andorian and Tellarite species. For his latest Broadway play, this even includes changing his eating habits and cutting out dairy all together. Now that’s devotion…think about it…that means no ice cream. No ice cream?! Not even for Captain Picard day?!

In the new comedy “A Life in the Theatre” written by David Mamet, Patrick co-stars with T.R. Knight from Grey’s Anatomy and has to take serious measures to protect his voice. You see, the play is 90 minutes of dialog with no intermission.

We're really looking forward to the upcoming Star Trek Fan Days in Plano. We'll be there both days covering the event with tweets, photos, and maybe even a little video thrown into the mix. We just got word from our friend Larry Nemecek that both he and Daryl Frazetti will be attending and speaking at the event. Larry will be presenting his "Star Trek: Between The Cracks" lecture & Daryl will present "Anthropology of Star Trek". As if that's not enough, it appears that our favorite Klingon, Michael Dorn has been added to the roster. Fan Days is shaping up to be a spectacular event. You want to hear more about the Enterprise taking you into space in your own lifetime, you say? Well, we’ll point you in the right direction. It seems our favorite real-life VSS Enterprise from Virgin Galactic, will be starring in its own four part documentary called “Virgin Galactic” beginning Monday October 18th on the National Geographic channel at 10pm ET/PT. The new documentary series will star Richard Branson and Burt Rutan, and will take us along for the ride as they bring us Huu-mons closer to everyday space travel…and thereby, one step closer to the Federation. Oooh Myyyyy! as George Takei would say, he's going to join Wil Wheaton in the ranks of "The Big Bang Theory" guest stars. The show airs tomorrow night (October 14th) at 8pm EDT / 7pm CDT on CBS and George plays "himself" or a highly exaggerated version of himself. While taking a small stab at one of his Trek co-stars, he explains "I'm playing a character named George Takei. You know, I've often done guest shots as George Takei, but, in 'Psych,' I played a puffed up, egocentric, self-centered George Takei, so I used one of my colleagues as my model for that one. But the character was named George Takei."
