Austin Comic-con Live Coverage - Day 1 - "Hulk'd"
Check out our live coverage of the Austin Comic-con Day 1 below. Today's coverage could be filed under "Not Star Trek, but still awesome." Walter Koenig's Q&A will be tomorrow, but today we'll be covering all the awesome costumes & star Q&As we can handle. Enjoy!
Austin Comic-con Starts Tomorrow With Star Trek's Walter Koenig & A Myriad Of Other Stars
The Austin Comic-con is upon us and is shaping up to be quite a show. Star Trek's Walter Koenig will be in attendance with a full Q&A scheduled for Saturday. We'll be there all three days live blogging the event. We're a little sad that only one Trek star is in attendance, but The Hulk, The Six Million Dollar Man, & The Soup Nazi will be there to dazzle and entertain. We're actually looking forward to the Lou Ferrigno Q&A. We loved the Incredible Hulk, but we're extra fond of Lou's role on "King of Queens". Ya know, he played himself. Good Stuff. Be sure to check back starting tomorrow for our live coverage.

Star Trek For Homework? Heck Yeah!
What kid didn’t wish that just once their mom would say, “Now put that book down! Turn that TV on! And watch some Star Trek!” Ok, maybe it was just me, but come on, how cool would that have been? Now, if you take one of Professor Daryl Frazetti’s courses that may become a reality. Many of you may know Daryl from the documentaries “Trekkies” and “Trekkies 2.” More recently he’s using his knowledge of Star Trek and other science fiction in the Anthropology courses he teaches and a book he is currently writing. To help in the data collection for his upcoming book, “The Anthropology of Star Trek” he has created a short Star Trek Fandom survey that you can take now through the end of November.
The Limited Edition "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" Enterprise Model, That Never Was
** UPDATE ** Due to some licensing issues and out of professional courtesy to The FX Company & CBS Consumer Products, we've edited our article. Unfortunately, this wickedly awesome Enterprise model won't be available for purchase any time soon.
See, it even makes Deanna Troi sad.
Check out the edited article below.
Many Trek fans have the various ships from Star Trek as the centerpiece of their Trek culture collections. We've all seen the different models from Diamond Select, Master Replicas, QMX, and even Playmates, but none seem to compare to those built by the FX Company. Deemed the largest licensed scale reproduction of the Enterprise, the ship measures 34.5 inches long and boasts a complex controllable lighting system. We actually got a chance to check out the "old gal" at the Star Trek Fan Days in Plano and can say that she is magnificent.
Star Trek LCARS App Now Available For Palm's WebOS
Since watching Star Trek: The Next Generation for the first time, we've been huge fans of the LCARS interfaces that have graced the display screens from TNG to Voyager and every movie in-between. Not familiar with LCARS? Sorry, you have to turn in your Trek fan badge at the door. Seriously though, you may not know the acronym, but you most certainly have seen the interface. Short for Library Computer Access & Retrieval System, LCARS is the multi-colored interface that usually has pill-shaped buttons and adorns everything from door panels to helm controls on all 24th century Federation ships. There's also a huge subculture in the Trek community that does nothing but design and recreate LCARS panels and emulates the controls on various modern day devices. We've seen it on jailbroken iPhones, laptops, touchscreen tablets, and Nokia smartphones. Heck, we even threw our hat in the LCARS ring with our PADDed Kindle project.
NASA Launches A Home Version Of Star Trek's Stellar Cartography
Watching "Star Trek: Generations", who hasn't wanted their very own version of Stellar Cartography. Thanks to NASA, it's now available. Called "Eyes on the Solar System" and developed by Caltech & JPL, it's a 3-D environment full of real NASA mission data. According to the "Eyes on the Solar System" website you can explore the cosmos from your computer. Hop on an asteroid. Fly with NASA's Voyager 2 spacecraft. See the entire solar system moving in real time. It's up to you. You control space and time.
Will Ferrell Started His Career By "Singing" The Star Trek: TOS Theme On Stage
The iconic Star Trek theme music penned by Alexander Courage is known throughout the world. And, in a small way, may have launched the career of one of the most popular comedians of the past 15 years. Love his movies or hate them, you have to admire Will Ferrell simply for starting his career in comedy by "singing" the theme to TOS. In a recent Youtube video posted by ABC News, Will talks of his early beginnings in the Southern California comedy scene.
Star Trek Online Questions Answered In This Month's Installment Of "Ask Cryptic"
Cryptic Studios just released another in installment in their ongoing series "Ask Cryptic". These popular monthly question and answer sessions give Star Trek Online players a chance to ask Executive Producer Dan Stahl questions about the future of the MMO. In this month's edition players inquired about fleet actions, targ mastering, and Romulans... We would love to see Vulcan's mischievous cousins make an appearance as a playable race in STO. Unfortunately though, it seems that may be a fair pace down the road, but still on the horizon. We dug through this month's questions and pulled out what we thought were the most intriguing. Check out the excerpt below.
New Star Trek Documentary On The Biography Channel Tomorrow Night Featuring All 5 Captains
A brand new two-hour documentary special featuring the five captains from our favorite scifi series is set to launch tomorrow night on the Biography Channel. Called "The Captains of the Final Frontier", the documentary will focus on Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway, & Archer, while shedding light on the incredible triumphs and epic failures of the most legendary leaders in Starfleet history. The show is scheduled to start tomorrow night (November 3rd) at 9pm EDT. Also, we just learned that our good friend Larry Nemecek worked as a consultant on the show.
