In a recent LA Times article, writer Geoff Boucher sat down with our favorite vulcan Leonard Nimoy.  In the interview they discuss the new film 'Star Trek', Leonard's early years in Hollywood, his past experiences with Star Trek, and the origins of the Vulcan Salute.

Leonard Nimoy, Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto stopped by Saturday Night Live over the weekend and made a guest appearance on weekend update. 

Nimoy, Pine & Quinto take on Trekker reaction to the tagline "This isn't your father's Star Trek' with some lighthearted ribbing of Trek fans  Some fans may not find it humorous, but it's definitely not the infamous Shatner 'Get a life' Skit.  Although, seeing the Shatner skit first run we thought that was pretty funny as well.  Check out the video below.

'Star Trek' bests predictions with a $76.5 million dollar opening weekend.

Paramount Pictures had estimated that the movie would make about $50 million for the weekend, but figured that strong reviews helped carry it to the bigger opening.

As reported by POLITICO the President has asked Paramount Pictures for his own screening of the new "Star Trek" film in the White House.

The White House request could just be an attempt by the president to stay on top of pop culture by watching this box office bonanza — but could there be more to it?

As reported by Reuters, 'Star Trek' had a fantastic box office return for it's advanced screenings May 7th.

The big-screen return of "Star Trek" launched into warp drive as it grossed an estimated $7 million from advance screenings in North American theaters, Daily Variety reported on Friday.

The 'future home' of Star Trek The Experience is experiencing more financial troubles.  As reported by News 3 Las Vegas, the Galaxy Theater at Neonopolis shutdown on the premiere day of the new J.J. Abrams film 'Star Trek'.  We would love to see The Experience open it's doors again and hope this isn't a sign of things to come.
