First of all, how cool is that? Our friends Scott & Miles from The SciFi Diner Podcast just released another interview from their time at Shore Leave 34. This time, they sit down with Jane Wiedlin from The Go-Gos. Jane has also worked on several feature films including Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and our beloved Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.

What's a 100 Year Starship you ask? Well, it's an initiative to push human kind toward interstellar travel lead by retired NASA Astronaut / M.D. / Star Trek guest star Mae Jemison. According to the official initiative mission statement: 100 Year Starship will pursue national and global initiatives, and galvanize public and private leadership and grassroots support, to assure that human travel beyond our solar system and to another star can be a reality within the next century.  100 Year Starship will unreservedly dedicate itself to identifying and pushing the radical leaps in knowledge and technology needed to achieve interstellar flight while pioneering and transforming breakthrough applications to enhance the quality of life on earth. We will actively include the broadest swath of people in understanding, shaping, and implementing our mission.

If you’re anywhere near Vancouver you still have time to go see Star Trek: The Exhibition at the Pacific Nation Exhibition. It continues its run through September 3rd and has tons of goodies to see. 

The exhibit makes it first-ever Canadian stop at the Pacific National Exhibition, which continues until Sept. 3. There are 46 years of Star Trek history on display, including sets from the series, filming models, props, costumes and more from all five series and 11 feature films.

Alexander Siddig has been hard at work on his latest movie project, a new film by Cairo Time writer-director Ruba Nadda called Inescapable. We first reported on the film back in 2011 when it was first announced. Also starring Marisa Tomei and Joshua Jackson, Inescapable's debut trailer has hit the net and it looks like a very interstesting premise especially with current world events.

There’s a new teaser trailer for “The Con of Wrath” which has only been seen by the eyes of those lucky enough to have been attending the San Diego Comic Con on July 14th. This new trailer contains some great, high quality footage of the much anticipated documentary…not to mention more snippets of the fabulous interviews it’s going to contain.

Our good friends over at The SciFi Diner Podcast recently wrapped their annual coverage of Shore Leave 34. If you don't know, Shore Leave is the largest fan run convention on the east coast and Scott & Miles have been covering the event for the past several years. They ended the convention with a bang by landing an interview with Star Trek: The Next Generation's LeVar Burton.

So we've officially returned to the land of the living... well sorta. Vegas Khhaaan! 2012 is in the rearview mirror and although we're sad to see it speed by, we do have some fond memories to look back upon. That's right kids, it's time for the Vegas Khhaaan! 2012 wrap-up. We had a blast, of course, and other than Darren from Trekcast getting shushed by a certain blind engineer and me getting randomly insulted by another certain android, the show went off without a hitch. Don't worry kids, we paid it back in-kind. Our alter ego Bye Bye, Robot had a fantastic show as well and we'll have some really cool product announcements in the following week or two. Those of you that made it to the show and hit up the BBR booth know exactly what I'm talking about.

In years past we've celebrated Gene Roddenberry's birthday with a special salute and a Youtube video round-up. We've often overlooked another Trek alum's birthday that just happens to share the same date as Gene, Star Trek: The Next Generation's Jonathan Frakes. What better way to celebrate this special day with a video of Jonathan candidly remembering Gene. Happy birthday to both Gene "The Great Bird of the Galaxy" Roddenberry and Jonathan "Two Takes" Frakes. By the way, you can find out how Jonathan earned that special nickname here.

We love Worf. Come on, who doesn’t? So it was a pleasure for us when we stumbled upon a recent LA Times interview with his human counterpart, Michael Dorn. They decided to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Star Trek: The Next Generation by getting to know the man behind the mask. They discuss everything from the obvious makeup issues that he had to deal with all the way to his thoughts about the choice for TNG to have a very different kind of captain than Kirk.
