Armin Shimerman will be appearing in the play, The Seagull with the Antaeus Company in North Hollywood. Previews of the play begin tomorrow, February 23rd with Opening Night on March 1st & 2nd at 8pm.

Anton Chekhov’s classic tale of love and longing, directed by Andrew Traister, opens the season on MARCH 1. Set on a country estate by a lake in 19th century Russia, this idyllic locale belies the turbulent passions of its inhabitants. The famous actress, Irina Arkadina, returns home with her lover to find a household overflowing with creativity, fantasies of fame, jealousy and unrequited love.

The performances will be split up into two casts. The Antaeus Company has this to say “our fantastic actors have been separated into 2 casts – The Rubles and The Samovars.  The full casts will alternate Saturday night and Sunday matinee performances.  On Thursdays and Fridays we’ll mix them up, which will be known as The Tsars casts.”

Armin is cast in the role of Shamrayev, and will be appearing with the “Rubles” cast. When purchasing your tickets make sure that you get the correct date/cast combo.

The play runs Thursdays through Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm, through April 15th, 2012.

Even though Armin is busy with The Seagull he’s not letting it slow him down from other projects. He is also directing a staged reading of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, to be held on March 25 & 26th. This is part of the Antaeus Company’s Classics Fest 2012, Part I. In total, six classics will be represented. All readings will take place at 7 pm. Admission is free with a ten dollar suggested donation at the door.

UPDATE: Armin sent us some more details about his up coming performances. The dates he will be appearing are March 1,3,9,11,16,17,30,31, April 5-8, 12-15, and 19th, and 22nd. He also mentioned that Adrian LaTourelle, the son-in-law of Rene Auberjonois, will be performing in the "Samovars" cast. Although Adrian is in the other cast he and Armin will be appearing together March 9 and April 5,7,12,15.
