Here's something really cool, that just popped up on our viewscreen thanks to longtime Subspace Communique friend Starfleetmom. It's a new 20-minute short film / presentation pilot called Liberator that stars Austin Comic-Con favorite & Incredible Hulk star Lou Ferrigno, La Femme Nikita star Peta Wilson, Don "The Dragon Wilson, Ed Asner, and our lovable Mr. Woof (said in our best Lwaxana Troi voice), I mean Mr. Worf, Michael Dorn. Liberator revolves around a disgraced, washed-up, ex superhero (played by Lou Ferrigno) whose secret black ops past catches up with him -- just as he's trying to put his life back together.

According to the official Kickstarter page; unlike other superhero flicks out there, Liberator is based very much in the politics of now. This is a real person in the real world. He's a superhero, yes, but he's also a man and a father, dealing with the things that affect us all as humans. It's this personal, emotional element that really sets this character, and this project, apart.

Kickstarter you ask? Yes, the film needs your help to be completed. The creators and crew have used every last dime raised so far to film the movie. Now though, they need the extra funding to add all of the uber-cool special effects, explosions, etc. in post production. In total they need $18K to finish this film at the high level of professionalism it demands. As of this writing there's a little more than $11,000 to go and a deadline of August 10th, at 4:46PM EDT. There are varying levels of donations with cool incentives that give everyone an opportunity to participate.

Film Synopsis:

LIBERATOR stars LOU FERRIGNO as Al Migliocetti, the LIBERATOR, a disgraced, washed-up ex-superhero with one last chance at redemption.

After taking the fall for a US black op gone bad, Liberator returns home after a decade in Federal prison to find his day has come and gone. No longer the icon of American values -- he's persona non grata. A traitor. A joke. Even his own family has turned against him.

Desperate, Al pens a tell-all book he plans to use to clear his name and hopefully win back his daughter. But when an old foe resurfaces, Al puts it all on the line to don the gravimetric-assist armor and charge into battle one last time.
