Star Trek XII Will Be Bana-less

Star Trek XII Will Bana-less

As reported by Ace Showbiz, Star Trek XII will be one cast member short.  Eric Bana will not be reprising his role as Nero.  We kinda figured Nero wouldn't be back in the sequel, considering he was last seen exploding in a black hole.  But, weirder things have happened.

His remark only strengthened his previous claim about the matter to Sci Fi Wire. Asked if there was a chance he is involved in the sequel, he said, "Unfortunately, no, I don't think so. It was a one-shot deal. I had a great time. The whole Star Trek thing has been nothing but a blast and a great, fun ride. Right from the get-go, the shooting, the junket was fun, the touring with a really great cast, great group of people. We had a great time traveling together."

A follow-up movie for "Star Trek" has indeed been planned by Paramount Pictures as the studio secured screenwriter duo Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman as well as scribe Damon Lindelof to pen the sequel's script. "There's obviously a lot of hubris involved in signing on to write a sequel of a movie that hasn't even come out yet," Lindelof said. "But we're so excited about the first one that we wanted to proceed."

Aside from the screenwriters, the yet-to-be-titled sequel will once again have J.J. Abrams as the project's producer alongside his Bad Robot partner Bryan Burk as well as Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof. Still, decision is yet to be made if Abrams will return to direct the sequel. Meanwhile, "Star Trek" which was released on May 7 has collected as much as $379.8 million worldwide.
