Celebrate First Contact, Z-man Style
So another pre-celebratory "First Contact" day is upon us and we're celebrating by rocking out to some Steppenwolf and working on our prototype warp drive. Just because it's made of aluminum foil and toilet paper tubes still makes it a prototype, right?....
Moving on, so we've done some searching and can't seem to find a listed date for Zefram Cochrane's birth. From viewing "Star Trek: First Contact" we can assume that The Z-man is probably in his late 50s early 60s at the time of the Vulcan's arrival. So, with our limited math skills and the fact the First Contact happened on April 5th, 2063 we can deduce that Zefram has been born already or is soon to be. This lead to another thought…
What if we don't experience things foretold in Trek. For instance, the Bell Riots are just around the corner in 2024 and Col. Steven Richey's ill-fated space flight is only decades away. What if these things never happen? We've gathered a few possible outcomes...
- We simply need to be patient and wait for these events to unfold
- We're actually in an alternate timeline that requires Spock Prime to time travel to in order to set things right
- Star Trek is simply fiction
We're going to settle on A or B because there's just no way C is right… Happy First Contact Day, everyone! Like we said on Facebook, Make Zefram Cochrane proud, say hi to a Vulcan.
Update -- According to Memory Alpha Zefram Cochrane was born in 2032. So that would make him 31 in "Frist Contact"? Yikes, either the sun in Montana is really harsh or it's the bourbon and radiation combo...
