Happy 2nd Anniversary Subspace Communique... And The Winner Is!
We’re so excited to have been here with you for two years on the nose, today! Is that cake I smell? A couple of articles ago we mentioned that we’ve had a blast bringing you all the Trek Culture we could round up.
We’ve spent the last two years traversing the net and the physical world in search of (Leonard Nimoy reference) all the things Trek culture. What’s Trek culture you ask? Well, we consider it more of a lifestyle than just a mere hobby or interest. One of our readers said it best… “Not Trek news, Not Sci-Fi, but Culture. We as trekkies have a culture {and} we are not just limited to canon. We expand upon it and incorporate other parts of star trek into our daily lives. It affects how we live and interact. “the behaviors and beliefs characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age group” that is culture."
The last two years have been an absolute joyride. From launching the site to live convention coverage and launching our own podcast series, we’ve had a blast. Not only that, but we’ve made some great friends along the way. That includes you, our wonderful readers. We couldn’t have come this far without your support and words of encouragement.
Speaking of our readers, it’s now time for the contest results… Via our super high tech method of choosing a winner, (I was secretly hoping we could rig up some sort of Cpt. Pike inspired beeping apparatus), we’re pleased to announce that “Klm68uk” is the contest winner!! Congratulations Klm68uk! Have a blast playing with your new toys!!! Here is what Klm68uk had to say about their visits to the site, “Awesome site totally cool for Trekkie's like me to get my daily fix 10/10, Live Long and Prosper.”
Here are some of the other comments that our readers/contest participants left for us, including a few that were sent to us via email.
- For movies I go to /Film, for video games I go to Destructoid. For Star Trek, I always check Subspace Communique!
- Subspace Communique has to be one of the best designed Trek sites on the Net. The content is fresh and live updates from conventions keep me in the loop even when I'm not there.
- Well, I just found you guys here, happy to see an unbiased place for coverage of ALL things Trek.
- I've been a TOS fan since I was a kid,I'd love to win the Mego's,had them all but lost them in a flood....Subspace Communique is AWESOME!!!!
- You guys give me not only a daily-dose of Trek but it's an interactive experience as well. You're not so small that you never have anything new to say, but not so huge that you don't have time for the fans, and that's great stuff.
- I visit because you guys come up with awesome trivia, and remind me of how much I enjoy StarTrek in all its forms. Live Long and Prosper!
- As I see it I love subspace comms for a very simple reason. It is among the first sites I check in the morning. It provides great news and humorous insight to our little corner of the Sci-Fi universe. But what gets me the Most is that this is Trek CULTURE served up daily. Not Trek news, Not Sci-Fi but Culture. We as trekkies have a culture we are not just limited to canon. We expand upon it and incorporate other parts of star trek into our daily lives. It affects how we live and interact. “the behaviors and beliefs characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age group” that is culture through subspace comms we explore what it is to be a trekkie and why we are that way. Truly a great site keep up the work. Happy anniversary.
- I first found out about Subspace Communique through listening to Trek Cast. I enjoy Subspace Communique not just because there's news about the people who made Star Trek. Whether they be the actor, producers, writers ect. I like the human interest stories that are Star Trek related. I like that there's news about inventions or scientific developments being inspired by Star Trek. I like news about the games and books that are Star Trek related. I also like the news about the fan community. I've also enjoyed to be able to part of Subspace Communique in small way, contributing news and stories. I've enjoyed the ride also. I continue to look forward this ride going on a third year. Happy 2 Year Anniversary Subspace Communique.
Thanks again everyone for participating in Subspace Communique the last two years! Here’s to “Going Boldy” for many years to come….
