Star Trek Theme Song To Wake Up Space Shuttle Crew Monday, March 7th 2011

It’s so close we can taste it…the culmination of NASA’s Top 40 Song Contest is finally close at hand. Placing in the #2 position with 27.2 % of the votes, the Star Trek theme song (by Alexander Courage) will be played on March 7th for the STS-133 shuttle crew's wake up call. We can't find an exact time but they seem to be waking them up between 4:00-6:30am CST. You can watch live coverage of the shuttle mission on NASA TV's Public Channel. Dude...we're watching live space coverage right now...as we type...*excited giggles* If you can't listen to it live or if you missed it, you can go here to listen to all of the saved audio for the STS-133 Shuttle Mission including the wakeup calls.

While we were writing this story, we found something else super fun to participate in if you ever dreamt of going into space; the Face In Space program. With this program offered by NASA, you get to upload your name and picture and NASA will transmit it to the Shuttle where you (via your upload) will get to orbit the Earth and become part of history. How cool is that?!! We totally already uploaded ours. So, Subspace Communique will be boldly going where a bunch of people have gone before. They are doing this for the last two shuttle missions. STS-133 is already closed, but they are accepting submissions for the last shuttle mission, STS-134, up until lift off. And, come on, how awesome is it going to be to have your Face In Space on the very last shuttle mission? ...answer?...WAY COOL!!
