Star Trek Parody Pilot In The Works For FX

Star Trek Parody Pilot In The Works For FX

A brand new comedy pilot is in the works for cable network FX. Called "Alabama" the show centers around the crew of USS Alabama on a seven-year mission to maintain interplanetary peace. Sound familiar? Well, it should "Alabama" is an unofficial parody of Star Trek, set 1000 years in the future and created by the folks responsible for "Reno 911".

According to an FX statement, "The series begins six years into their seven year mission to maintain peace and enforce treaties between planets in their jurisdiction: Sector 187-G. The show will follow the heart-pounding action as our crew visits hostile planets, meets alien life-forms, and tries to have sex with each other in their tiny, metal bunk beds."

While probably not appropriate for all viewers, the new show is only in the pilot phase. Much like most pilots, the show may not get optioned into a series. So, who knows if it will see the light of day. One interesting note though, just like "Reno 911", the new show will be part scripted and part improvised.

We'll keep you posted as more details emerge.
