New Star Trek Online Kobayashi Maru & Meet The Team

More updates to the Star Trek Online website are out on the net. This time we have an update to the on-going Kobayashi Maru series as well as a brand new Meet the Team.

Kobayashi Maru

You are a captain of a reconnaissance craft scouting a heavily fortified base in a poorly charted sector, when an officer you've been friends with for years is captured by the occupying force of the base. The race that has captured your officer is known to be ruthless, impatient and highly paranoid. After interrogating your officer, they learn you hold information about new Starfleet project that could be valuable to them, so they offer to negotiate for the officer's release.

They offer an exchange: The return of your officer, unharmed, for information on a new Starfleet defensive structure secretly being built in a neighboring sector. Their motives for wanting the information are unknown.

A rescue mission is out of the question as the base is too well defended. Transporters cannot be used either, as there is a dampening field around the base. Sending them false information is inadvisable, as it's not known how much your officer has revealed or whether their technology is capable of detecting forgeries.

Do you give them the information they want, which may cost thousands of lives, or do you leave your life-long friend and officer to die? (source Star Trek Online)

How long have you worked in gaming, and what did you do before Star Trek Online?

This is actually my first job in gaming. I worked as a GM on Champions Online for a few months before moving to the OCR team. Before that I was working as technical support for a payphone services company, where I worked with the California Department of Corrections to make sure inmates could call home for Christmas.

Who is your favorite Star Trek character and why?

Without a doubt, Q. I really enjoyed the wit and sarcasm brought to the role by John de Lancie. To me, it also spoke volumes that such a powerful being could act so childish, so consistently, while still proclaiming to be so intellectually advanced. This, of course, made me consider my own actions in an entirely new way.

If you could choose to be an alien on Star Trek, which species would you want to be?

I would probably be a Changeling like Odo and The Founders. You know, sleep in a bucket, play pranks on tons of people with my shape shifting powers … Near limitless options for getting myself into trouble, how could you go wrong? (source Star Trek Online)
