Star Trek: TOS

Pants Can't Contain William Shatner And His Awesomeness

In a slightly embarrassing incident at LAX, William "The Shat" Shatner was going through a TSA checkpoint when his pants dropped like the shields on the Reliant.  "He tasks me and I shall have him!".... Fortunately, Khan wasn't responsible.  Due to his long flight to South Africa, Sir Billiam was wearing loose fitting clothing and didn't happen to wear a belt.  Some lucky travelers got to see Bill in his Starfleet skivvies.  I bet it was like looking into a rainbow made of lasers and unicorns.

The Shat To Debut New Documentary "William Shatner's Get A Life!" At San Diego Comic-Con

In what's a bit of surprise to us, William "Sir Billiam" Shatner is set to debut a new documentary called William Shatner's Get A Life! at San Diego Comic Con. According to IMDB, the new doc was filmed last year in Las Vegas. Could this be the same documentary that The Shat filmed at Vegas Khhaaan?.. Of course at the time it was a TV pilot documentary called FAN ADDICTS and was being produced by Creation Entertainment. The new documentary is an EPIX Original, just like The Captains, and will be debuted at his Comic-Con panel along with cult film director Roger Corman. Roger is also debuting an Epix original, his first 3D film Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader. The panel is set for July 14th and will moderated by none-other-than Kevin Smith.

Comicpalooza Houston 2012 Post Convention Wrap-up

Comicpalooza Houston 2012 Post Convention Wrap-up

After a whirlwind of a weekend, we here at Subspace Communique can look back on a fantastically fun and entertaining time at Houston's Comicpalooza. We spent the full three days traipsing the halls of the George R. Brown convention center in downtown Houston and learned a few things about ourselves and about a few guest stars. First off, Richard Hatch loves ribs... We saw the Battlestar Galactica star enjoying (more than once) some of the fine barbecue served in the vender area. Hey, I'm not pointing fingers here, I had my fair share too. Secondly, George Takei still smells fantastic. I passed Mr. Sulu, once again, and he smelled like a fresh spring day. Lastly, we learned that you should never go with a Jaffa to a second location... I'll just leave that there.

All Five Star Trek Captains On Board For Philadelphia Comic Con

All Five Star Trek Captains On Board For Philadelphia Comic Con

We've said it before and we'll say it again, we love Wizard World Comic Cons. They run some of the best conventions in the business. It seems that their world famous Philadelphia Comic Con is shaping up to be, not only a well run convention, but also a Trek fan's dream come true. All five captains are signed on as guests for the upcoming, May 31st through June 3rd convention. That's right woodchuck-chuckers, William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, & Scott Bakula are beaming down to the city of brotherly love. Really, you could say 6 captains will be on board since Chris Hemsworth will also be a featured guest. Chris plays Thor in all the Marvel awesomeness that's going on lately, but he also played George Kirk. He was captain of the USS Kelvin for 12 minutes, after all...

SpaceX To Pay Final Tribute To Star Trek’s Jimmy Doohan

As many of you know, some of Jimmy Doohan’s remains were originally slated to be launched into space back in 2008.  Unfortunately, when the rocket failed to reach orbit that dream wasn’t realized.  Celestis, the company responsible for making sure that tribute happens, has contracted with SpaceX to launch Jimmy’s ashes on the next Falcon 9 launch.  The new mission was scheduled for launch yesterday (May 19th), but due to a malfunction it’s been rescheduled for Tuesday May 22nd

Leonard Nimoy Welcomes The Enterprise To Its New Home

Leonard Nimoy Welcome The Enterprise To It's New Home

As a child of 70's & 80's, I've had an amazing fascination with the space program. From drawing pictures of Space Shuttles in my kindergarten class to visiting Space Camp shortly after the Challenger accident, it's played a significant role in my formative years. I guess that's really where my love affair with Star Trek began. I have to say that today is rather bittersweet. The internet has been buzzing with talk about the end of the Space Program, as we know it, for some time. Though, today it finally hit home for me. I watched the first shuttle, Enterprise, arrive at its new home. Greeted so graciously by one of my heroes, Mr. Leonard Nimoy. Sure, the Enterprise has been a museum piece for sometime, but its transfer to a new resting spot means that the active shuttle fleet is no longer in service. It's sad really. With a touch of bitter there's also the sweet. Leonard gave an awe inspiring speech that's sure to go down in history, at least in my mind, as one of the greats.

William Shatner Dines With His 1 Millionth Twitter Follower

Okay, we've seen The Shat up close and person, but we've never sat down to break bread with the big man. One lucky fan can indeed claim that they've had the honor... Yeah, we're jealous. @WilliamShatner twitter follower Troy Pound was the lucky 1 millionth that earned the right to have dinner with Sir Billiam. While In South Carolina for his one man show Shatner's World: We Just Live In It, Bill made good on the promise and took Troy and his wife out to a fancy restaurant and then posted a brief video on YouTube to celebrate.
