Star Trek: Voyager
Voyager’s own EMH, Robert Picardo, is slated to make a guest appearance on the upcoming season of “Stargate Universe”. For those of you who haven’t watched any of the Stargate iterations, Bob is no stranger to the series. He’s played character Richard Woolsey in both SG-1 and Atlantis for 10+ years. We were particularly pleased, when in his second episode on Atlantis, they made (what we choose to believe was) a tribute to The Doctor. At the end of a group meeting scene, nearby automated doors respond for everyone leaving except Woolsey (Picardo), leaving him comically trapped and alone in the conference room. Thanks to whoever came up with that bit. We really enjoyed the throw back to Voyager. No news yet on the episode release date, we’ll keep you posted.
Eugene Wesley Roddenberry was born August 19th 1921 in El Paso, Texas. Today would have been Gene's 89th birthday and to celebrate the life of this extraordinary man, we bring you a special Youtube Video Round-up: The Gene Roddenberry Edition. Gene wore many different hats over the years, writer, director, producer, husband, father, friend, and as most would agree; visionary. Gene's vision for the future was that of hope in mankind and the hope for a better tomorrow. It has played out on televisions screens all over the world starting on September 8th, 1966 through to today. So, to celebrate the life & legacy of the Great Bird of the Galaxy, we've scoured the halls of Youtube to find the very best of Gene Roddenberry. Enjoy.
Kate Mulgrew is set to attend a Screening of her short film "The Response" in Washington D.C. on June 30th. The 6:30pm public screening is free with a panel discussion/Q&A to follow at 7:15pm., but you must RSVP to attend (info below).
With the recent announcement of his retirement, Leonard Nimoy has been hitting the convention circuit pretty heavily. Not that we're complaining. We definitely want to see him before he buys a condo and moves to Florida. With the retirement news though, we just assumed that Vegas Khhaaan! was going to be his last show. Apparently not. It looks like the 44th annual Chi-town convention could be our Vulcan friend's last show (maybe). So, if you're looking for a chance to get a photo or autogarph with Mr. Nimoy beyond Vegas, you still have a chance.

Garrett Wang is Indianapolis this weekend for the 14th annual Starbase Indy SciFi Convention. And, Scott Thien from Indianapolis Star was able to get an interview before the Con. Garrett talks about his life growing up in the south and the racism he dealt with there as well as his love for trek and all things SciFi. Check out an excerpt from the interview below.
“Being in the South really impacted my life,” Wang (pronounced “wong”), 40, said by phone recently, recalling his high school days growing up in Memphis, Tenn. “Having to deal with racial epithets every day really molds your life.”
Famed Star Trek artist Mike Okuda, responsible for so much of the look and feel of the Next Generation era, has also made quite a name for himself designing patches and insignias for various NASA missions. His latest work includes patches for the Constellation, Ares I-X, and Orion Missions.
As reported by Cleveland.com, Mike explains "I love the style of military unit or squadron emblems, that wonderful sense of bravado, since that's such a big part of NASA's culture." Check out the article exerpt below.
