Captain Pyke Reviews: Keyscaper "Star Trek" Custom Keyboard & Mouse

LCARS or Library Computer Access/Retrieval System is something that most if not all Trek fans are familiar with. Even if you've never heard the acronym before, you've seen it in action. You know, the computer interfaces with multi-colored pill-shaped buttons that litter nearly every computer and control from "Star Trek: The Next Generation" onward. Even "Enterprise" and the new J.J. Abrams's "Star Trek" had they're own custom controls and user interfaces.

Geek Fights Podcast Episode 1: Star Trek Vs. Star Wars

A good friend of Subspace Communique just launched a brand new podcast called Geek Fights. You may know Damon as the trivia guy from Trekcast, but he's also one of our contributors, reviewing the Star Trek: D-A-C video game for us last year. Well, Damon has launched a brand new podcast called Geek Fights, where each week two subjects in geek culture are pitted against each other in a steel cage grudge match.

Iowa Trek Fans Go For Guinness World Record

Another group of Trek fans may have beaten the world record for the "most people dressed as characters from the television series and movies". As you may or may not have heard, this record attempt seems to be the thing to do at conventions this year. The original record was set back in February in London on the world famous Millennium bridge where 99 Trek Fans gathered. With attempts in Tampa back in May, the "enterprising" (sorry) fans of Iowa could have actually beaten the record.

"It Became A Question Of Where Jean-Luc Ended & I Began" Says Patrick Stewart

We absolutely love how much Patrick Stewart has been in the news lately. With his recent addition to the Vegas Khhaaan! roster it seems the Captain is on a whirlwind tour of the Globe. In fact, he's in Edinburgh, Scotland this week as the jury chairman for the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Not only as a part of the jury, but Patrick was also the focus of an on-stage interview helmed by Alan Morrison, arts editor of the Sunday Herald.

Youtube Video Round-up: The James Doohan Edition

As I was thinking over a few ideas for an article tonight, I realized that we have yet to honor our favorite Scotsman in the appropriate fashion. So, ladies, gents, and all trans-gender species, it's time for the... Youtube Video Round-up: James Doohan edition. As a young trek fan, I don't think that there was a cast member I tried to imitate more than Scotty. From the ubiquitus "I haven't got the power" to "Aye, the haggis is in the fire for sure", I tried them all.

Creation's Chicago Con Roster. Is it Spock's Last?

With the recent announcement of his retirement, Leonard Nimoy has been hitting the convention circuit pretty heavily. Not that we're complaining. We definitely want to see him before he buys a condo and moves to Florida. With the retirement news though, we just assumed that Vegas Khhaaan! was going to be his last show. Apparently not. It looks like the 44th annual Chi-town convention could be our Vulcan friend's last show (maybe). So, if you're looking for a chance to get a photo or autogarph with Mr. Nimoy beyond Vegas, you still have a chance.

All Four Seasons Of Enterprise Available Online

One of the most underrated Star Trek series, in our book, "Star Trek: Enterprise" or just "Enterprise" is now available for viewing online. CBS Studios has made all four seasons watchable for free on CBS.com. Star Trek: The Original Series is also available for viewing through the CBS website.
From our understanding, Apple iPad users should also be able to view the series. If not now, then soon since it appears that CBS is in the process of testing and slowly releasing all of it's streaming content using HTML 5 instead of Adobe Flash.
