New York Comic-Con is nearly upon us and Roddenberry Entertainment has a packed schedule for the event. Premiering two new graphic novels and throwing a pizza party for fans during the their panel, The R will be doing The Big Apple right. The Roddenberry Entertainment Panel / pizza party will begin at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11 in Room 1A04. Featuring clips from both Trek Nation and White Room 02B3, the panel will feature producer Trevor Roth to answer fan questions. If that isn't enough Roddenberry Entertainment will be premiering the graphic novel version of its wildly popular Days Missing comic series as well as a brand new novel entitled Worth.

A brand new podcast has hit the cyber "airwaves" recently and is set to examine every single episode of Star Trek. The best part about the new show is that it's a Roddenberry Entertainment production. Mission Log, hosted by DVD Geeks' John Champion and "Mac OS Ken" Ken Ray, will start with the TOS pilot "The Cage" and run all the way through the final episode of Enterprise.

As we reported earlier, Trek Nation made its international debut today at SCI-FI-LONDON. On top of that, we just received word that Trek Nation will be heading for its North American theatrical debut at this year's San Diego ComicCon. If that wasn't enough, the showing is completely free, doesn't require a ComicCon pass, and will be immediately followed by a Q&A session with Rod Roddenberry. Can I say it for all of us?... That's pretty freakin' cool! The event will be held at the historic Birch North Park Theatre on July 12th followed by the aforementioned Q&A session, plus a special meet-and-great at West Coast Tavern. As always Roddenberry Entertainment wants Trek fans to show their love and come dressed in full regalia. So all you Borg, Vulcans, and even Pakleds get suited-up for this special event.

Now, UK Trek fans can experience the film up close and personal as it makes its international debut at this year’s annual SCI-FI-LONDON film festival May 7th. Rod Roddenberry's long anticipated and widely acclaimed documentary Trek Nation, directed by Scott Colthorp, is re-airing this month on Science. According to the official Trek Nation website: Thanks to tremendous response, Trek Nation will be airing in the Pacific time zone December 18th at 6pm and again at 9pm, then on December 20th at 1am. If you're in the Eastern time zone, it will air December 18th at 9pm, December 19th at 12am and again at 4am.

Like we've said before, we're eagerly anticipating this film and look forward to seeing it grace the screen. Looks like a release date has finally been set for November 30th, 2011 on Science. If that's not enough to peak your interest, Science and Roddenberry Productions just released a brand new clip that features Rod talking with Bob Justman and several other Trek alumni. We're super stoked to see the release, too bad we have to wait until November.

Science Channel Partnering With Rod Roddenberry To Air "Trek Nation" Documentary

Trek Nation, the long anticipated documentary by Rod Roddenberry is headed to the Science Channel. We've been reporting on the doc for sometime and it's great to hear that all Trek fans, alike, will be able to get an inside look at the Roddenberry family and legacy. As reported by TV Guide, Science Channel is partnering with Rod to air the doc which he describes as "a journey to discovery who my father is... The man behind the myth".

"He's got the keys to the Roddenberry treasure of never-before-seen footage," says the channel's general manager, Debbie Myers. Adds executive producer Bernadette McDaid: "There's footage of Gene's wedding, which has never been seen, as well as footage from the first-ever Star Trek convention... we helped them take this treasure trove and shape it into a two-hour narrative. This is the ultimate first-hand testimony."

Rod explains talks about the journey of making Trek Nation; "My father passed away when I was 17. I was a rebellious kid, and he was more of an authority figure than a father. I didn't understand Star Trek until he passed away... but then I went to Star Trek conventions, and talked to people, and eventually became so proud of the name 'Roddenberry.'"

Today would have been Gene's 89th birthday and to celebrate the life of this extraordinary man, we bring you a special Youtube Video Round-up: The Gene Roddenberry Edition. Gene's vision for the future was that of hope in mankind and the hope for a better tomorrow.
