Rod Roddenberry's long anticipated and widely acclaimed documentary Trek Nation, directed by Scott Colthorp, is re-airing this month on Science. According to the official Trek Nation website: Thanks to tremendous response, Trek Nation will be airing in the Pacific time zone December 18th at 6pm and again at 9pm, then on December 20th at 1am. If you're in the Eastern time zone, it will air December 18th at 9pm, December 19th at 12am and again at 4am.

As you may know, Rod is the son Gene & Majel Roddenberry as well as the CEO of Roddenberry Productions. We got the chance to speak to Rod via phone interview to talk about his upcoming documentary Trek Nation (premiering Novmber 30th on Science 8PM ET) plus his work with Roddenberry Productions, The Roddenberry Foundation, & The Roddenberry Dive Team. Oh, and of course Star Trek. We had a blast recording this interview and Rod was a very gracious guest. Hey gang, we just reported on an interview with Rod Roddenberry for his upcoming documentary Trek Nation. Like we've said before, we're eagerly anticipating this film and look forward to seeing it grace the screen. Looks like a release date has finally been set for November 30th, 2011 on Science. If that's not enough to peak your interest, Science and Roddenberry Productions just released a brand new clip that features Rod talking with Bob Justman and several other Trek alumni. We're super stoked to see the release, too bad we have to wait until November.

Trek Nation, the long anticipated documentary by Rod Roddenberry is headed to the Science Channel.  We've been reporting on the doc for sometime and it's great to hear that all Trek fans, alike, will be able to get an inside look at the Roddenberry family and legacy.  As reported by TV Guide, Science Channel is partnering with Rod to air the doc which he describes as "a journey to discovery who my father is... The man behind the myth".

"He's got the keys to the Roddenberry treasure of never-before-seen footage," says the channel's general manager, Debbie Myers. Adds executive producer Bernadette McDaid: "There's footage of Gene's wedding, which has never been seen, as well as footage from the first-ever Star Trek convention... we helped them take this treasure trove and shape it into a two-hour narrative. This is the ultimate first-hand testimony."

Rod explains talks about the journey of making Trek Nation; "My father passed away when I was 17. I was a rebellious kid, and he was more of an authority figure than a father. I didn't understand Star Trek until he passed away... but then I went to Star Trek conventions, and talked to people, and eventually became so proud of the name 'Roddenberry.'"

Eugene Wesley Roddenberry was born August 19th 1921 in El Paso, Texas. Today would have been Gene's 89th birthday and to celebrate the life of this extraordinary man, we bring you a special Youtube Video Round-up: The Gene Roddenberry Edition. Rod Roddenberry's Trek Nation is finally approaching terminal velocity.  With a brand new trailer and more momentum behind the several year in the making documentary, the film is finally finished and seeking distribution. 

While doing our normal web surfing tonight, we came across something that we found pretty interesting.  It appears that Roddenberry Merchandise will be available from the leading online retailer of fandom merchandise, Entertainment Earth.  Slated for a June 2010 release, Roddenberry Merch will be ready for consumption.  The items include everything from a $50 UFP flag to the $5600 TOS Captain's chair and everything in between.

The long anticipated Star Trek Documentary from Rod Roddenberry is finally finished and awaiting a distribution deal. If you haven't heard of Trek Nation, Rod explains "It's been a journey to discovery who my father is... The man behind the myth". From our understanding, the film has been in the works for almost 10 years. We first heard about it back in 2005 when Rod was a guest on "The Fandom", the short-lived Chase Masterson podcast that featured interviews with various Trek stars and crew.
