Larry Nemecek's "The Con of Wrath" Documentary Update & Fundraising Special With Extra SWAG

Larry Nemecek's "The Con of Wrath" Documentary Update & Fundraising Special With Extra SWAG

Star Trek historian, author, & friend of Subspace Communique, Larry Nemecek, is still in the process of traveling all over the country and gathering interviews for his upcoming film The Con of Wrath. In fact, he just recently finished interviews with Kerry O'Quinn (father of Starlog Magazine & more), his old pal Eric Stillwell (TNG writer & Star Trek fiction author), & Kett Kettering. Both Eric & Kett were Con of Wrath attendees, or survivors as some may call it, and Kerry was the talkshow host / emcee for the convention.

We started spreading the word last year on how fans can help make the documentary a reality and now Larry has launched a brand new fundraising special that increases the incentives for fans. Anyone who makes a donation between now and 11:59 p.m. PDT on Monday, Feb. 27, will get the thank-you swag from the NEXT LEVEL UP, as you can see on the donor page at conofwrath.com. That's for every level from $10 through $500 ($1000 and $2500 levels are not included for this "doubling"deal.) And, if you have already made a donation, add on to your prior amount to hit the next level, and get the same deal.

Check Out The First Official Trailer For Larry Nemecek's "The Con Of Wrath"

Our good friend and Trek aficionado Larry Nemecek has just released a brand new trailer for his upcoming documentary, The Con of Wrath. Breaking the production announcement back in May, Larry's new doc will focus on the infamous 1982 "Ultimate Fantasy" convention that almost ended in failure. The new film is described as an inside look at a 1982 Star Trek Convention that made history of its own. The new trailer, that was previewed at San Diego Comic-con, & Vegas Khhaaan!, features clips of Wrath of Khan producer Harve Bennett & Trek star Walter Koenig.

More about The Con of Wrath: It was supposed to be the granddaddy of all Star Trek conventions, a glitzy rock concert of an event planned to truly go where none had gone before—complete with laser shows, orchestral oomph and a revolving stage in Houston’s NBA-sized arena. Instead, fans got the mother of all meltdowns—and, numbering in the hundreds, rather than thousands, gave it the nickname that itself was a takeoff on “The Wrath of Khan,” the hit Star Trek movie sequel released only days before.

Life After Trek Podcast Episode 12 Our Lives After Trek Part 2

We’re pleased to announce the fourteenth episode of our “Life After Trek” podcast. In this second and final part of our special round-table discussion, that we're calling "Our Lives After Trek", we had the fortune of talking Trek with Trek author Dayton Ward, Trek know-it-all Larry Nemecek, Trek blogger Jerad "Super Spock" Formby, and Geek Fighter Damon Shaw.  Sorry for the delay in releasing part 2.  We had some unforseen technical difficulties that put a kybosh on releasing this episode when we had originally planned.

This time we discuss all of the TNG movies from Star Trek: Generations through Star Trek: Nemesis.  We also chat about Enterprise and discover that we all have common thoughts about the show.  After that, we even dive into the 2009 J.J. Abrams reboot of our beloved franchise.  You definitely won't want to miss that.

In the first part of our discussion, each panelist tells their trek universe introduction story and we also go through each of the Trek series with insightful, funny, and sometimes "inside Trek" conversations about the shows. In true "Best of Both Worlds" fashion, we leave you with a cliffhanger. In the next episode we'll be discussing "Enterprise" and all of the Trek movies. We had a blast recording this episode and hope that you will enjoy this unique conversation.

BayouCon 2011, Lake Charles, Louisiana – Post Con Wrap-up

We had a great time at BayouCon this weekend! It may not have had the largest attendance in history, but that just meant that each fan that did attend had more time to spend personally with each guest. It was a great convention for one on one “face-time” with Star Trek favorites; Vaughn Armstrong, Max Grodenchik, and Larry Nemecek.

Watch for our upcoming episodes of Life After Trek that we recorded with Vaughn and Max on the last day of the con. They’ll be out soon!
